Hello everyone,
Let's not beat around the bush. At the same time I don't think I'll surprise anyone saying that, but we're late. The original release was supposed to be the end of this month but I underestimated the amount of work. "Thankfully", we're all late. I am late with the writing of the game (I'm around half-day of Sunday so in terms of main story, I've written around 75%, but it's the side things that still need a lot of work (notably the horse quest that is barely done)) and also because I'm working on extra things. At the same time, I finished the preparation work around February where I started writing the game. It's already a feat in itself to try to finish in 3 months what I took more than a year to do in 2015 ^^' (for those unaware I started working on Slice of Venture around April 2014, released it in August 2015 and took six more months to release v1.1 (with added content) in December 2015. So the full version of the original SoV took 17 months to do.)
On the art side, things are slower as well. Our new colorist isn't as quick as we hoped (despite being good) and Peak loses a lot of time explaining tons of things (even making visual tutorials.) So while things are progressing, there's no way all the art is ready for the end of April either :x
That being said, don't expect me to tell you that we're going to need two extra months. No, in an ideal world, I'd like to postpone the release by two weeks. I think we'll manage to do most things by then. And if exceptionally a thing or two is missing, depending what it is, either we'll take an extra couple of days or we'll implement the missing elements on the next release.
So yeah, there will be delays but we'll try to keep it reasonnable (especially if I want to stand to the possibility of making the whole game this year.)
That's all for the bad news. Now let's move to something more cheering: content for the game. And I'm going to show you something utterly spoilerish but as you know, it's not much of a problem for me anymore.
There are some elements I'm rewriting for this remake, of course. Some are just different settings but some are specifically intended extra meant for the post game. And what we're going to talk about today is THE element that is the core point of the post game content (meaning they're the base story why there will be another story after the end of the game (even if it's non canon.))
Let me present you two new girls that will join the cast.
Matsuri Asahina
Reina Fukuzawa
So while they're both related to the post game content, you'll cross their path twice in the game during the original story so you can know them a bit more.
The two of them are always together. Matsuri is the calm kind, a bit shy, always speaking with a soft voice and trying to find the most pacific solution to problems (Yes, one of my design choice was: I want an inverted Yuki). Reina, however, is very different. She seems to be bored by life, not matter what happens. Despite sticking to Matsuri, she looks very lonely and never smiles.
What? You don't like Reina's design? You guys shouldn't criticize it. I present you my second character designer: Hime.
Come on, I'm sure you guys would love a H game 100% drawn by her :D
But if you REALLY insist. I can show you Peak's version. But that's REALLY because you're nice. It's not necessarily better, you'll see.
Okay, since I've decided to handle things very differently with that game, I'll even reveal the big things about these two. They're yokai. Yeah I'm not even trying to hide it. At best, you'll find out what kind of Yokai they are later in the game. But yes. My game features Succubi, magic, parallel worlds etc... So I wanted to try something a bit more Japanese. The yokai are a perfect excuse. It also helps me rewriting the grandparents part to something different that will look a bit better than the original story.
So yes, these two are going to be present in the first release (among the things that might/might not be there for are their facesets though :x) And before you ask, no, I won't cockblock you. Of course, they are designed with the idea to see them have some fun. But that will have to wait later in the development.
Anyway, that's all for today. I should have content for at least one more post (hopefully two), before the release. So I'll keep this "one-week-update" pace for now, hoping we'll manage to deliver asap.
I'll see you next week for another surprise.
See ya o/
