Slice of Venture Remake Diary #10

Hello everyone,

We're reaching the end of reworks. There were two characters left and we're going to look at them right now.

Let's start with Anaëlle. It's going to be quick. There is nothing that changed. JFC completely reworked her back in the days and her design was top notch. We used it for Slice of Venture 3 after all. So Peak simply had to provide his version.

Here's JFC's version in case you never saw her (she's available for free on the BA site but I have a feeling half of the people here never set a foot on the site :x)

And this is Peak's version. Nothing more to say, she's the same Anaëlle as always. Everyone's favourite naughty succubus.

Now let's move to Mari because her case is a bit more interesting. In the original Slice of Venture people voted for the design you know.

This one. I checked back on the forum and the justification was "spats" for most voters. Keep in mind that all the other choices were VERY different from that sporty look.

These were the original choices. When this particular outfit won, I decided to go on the road of making her a sportsgirl. In case some of you are wondering why she's the PE teacher in SoS, now you know. Thing is, it never worked. Mainly because it wasn't smoothly following her look in Slice of Venture Origin.

Usually, when you make a sporty girl, you need a certain of key points (at least for me.) The major one being a tomboyish side (short hair, tanned skin etc...). Mari had absolutely none of these in SoVO. She was as girly as can be so I couldn't completely turn her into a tomboy (especially considering people also voted for her hairstyle, color etc...) So I was stuck with a girly girl in sports outfit. And it didn't work... JFC did make his own version (here it just for the pleasure of the eyes)

In the meantime, the work on Fubuki's game progressed a bit and she was MUCH more fit to have a sporty look than Mari. So even if I didn't follow the sportswear look for Fubuki in SoVR (didn't want to keep the same outfit through different games), I considered completely ditching that sort of look for Mari. The problem was: I had no idea in which direction to go. So I did something a bit shameful, I looked at drawings proposing outfits on Google Image. Those are images proposed mainly by female artists that show a lot of possible outfits for girl characters. The range is extremely large so you have a lot of variety. I won't explain all the things we potentially considered, but we ended up with a style that we thought was nice. A slightly rock/sexy outfit.

Teared jeans, shoulder-revealing top and converse-type kind of shoes. It's pretty basic but it worked better than we expected.

With this, we've completely dropped the sports path and went another road. She has the right to enjoy rock music after all. It doesn't prevent her to be girly. And I don't know if I'm biaised (as someone who enjoys the rock/metal music and look) but to me, she looks sexier like this than with her sports outfit. That ouftit was so revealing it was a bit boring (at least for me :x)

I'm sure you won't all agree with me but I hope you'll at least find that new version interesting enough ^^'

And with that, the rework of all girls has been shown! Yuki, Ayame, Reiko, Anaëlle, Naomi, Mari, Misao, Momoko, Fubuki and Akiko. Of course, the guys will be there as well, but we didn't make a character sheet with them. Despite being adapted to Peak's style, they keep their original design (Bunichi and his yellow/orange sportswear, Seiichi and his overall, Kentaro and his purple shirt etc...) I will show them to you later thanks to the facesets in the game when I'll make a post about the UI and things like that.
