Hello everyone,
Time to talk a bit about the next update. You have to understand that since I knew right from the start of 2023 that I'd work on TH2 only for the year, I planned things quite early. Of course, there's always a part of adaptation based on what can be done or not. And I've always had two possible path for v0.3.
Either I went for a full polish to have a solid version of the current game, or I'd go full "extra stuff" with new places and all. I won't hide that working on v0.29 had an impact on my decision (considering it represented a lot of work (much more than it looks like)) so after a lot of pondering, I decided to take the full polish road.
There are different arguments that weighed in the scale:
First of all, the game elements are not finished yet. Even if it's close to being finished (at least in terms of core building), the brothel still needs its last element to implement. There are also missing things to implement here and there. Things you don't know that are missing and things you know that are missing (like the scenes with the infected in Lost Town.)
Secondly, I'm planning to promote the game a bit once v0.3 will be done. I haven't made any promotion around TH2 ever since its launch. And I'd like the current version, even if still in progress, to be solid enough for people to know I'm making a good game. I'll ramble again about H games I've tested (and I still test), but hell, even games that sells dozens of thousands units on DLsite have blattant bugs that are baffling me. I don't want my game to be like that...
Thirdly, polishing is never fun and it's very easy to postpone it when there's a lot of new content to create. At least, with an update focused on polishing, I can deal with the majority of elements to work on and then be free of them for the rest of the development (until there are new things to polish 8D). I know it's not necessarily fun for players because it means less new content, but I'll try to compensate with the H content I can add.
So yeah, v0.3 will sign a step for TH2. The step of a solid portion of the game finished. After that, hopefully, things will flow more easily.
What to expect in v0.3 then?
Well, as I already stated, the end of the core building of the brothel. There are three main things we're currently working on to make the brothel a finished element: The top right corner of the brothel screen (you'll discover what it is when I'll make a post about it), a mini-game and (finally) the implementation of a bunch of pieces of furniture to decorate rooms a bit better.
Next to that, as I stated as well, will be new H content. For that, it's a bit trickier. Those who played the very last versions of v0.29 (meaning the most recent patch) know that I'm planning to remove the rank system for Kaya. H scenes meant to be locked will only be locked behind Sexual stats requirements. I have a couple of scenes ready to be implemented but which are meant to be locked because Kaya needs certains stats. And I'm facing a dilemma. Back in SoV2, because of how the game developped, and the fact I had to implement scenes when they were ready (and not when they were meant to appear in the game) there were inconsistencies where some scenes required more stats than other for a more vanilla content. Here, the same risk can happen. Some of those scenes are quite high in terms of hardcoreness so if I implement them with, for example, a pussy level of 5, all scenes locked in the future for a bigger level will need to be more hardcore. That's tricky and close to impossible. So I might make a poll to ask you directly what you'd prefer (and hoping you'll think with your brain and not your dick/pussy :p)
Remember my little list of "small things to do" that I try to thin down at every update? Well here I'd like to finish it (after all, it's a polish list). And since I suppose you'd want a couple of example, let me share them with you: Give a faceset to Jeanette's zombie, make the name tags look better on the world map, redo the toilet map in Lost Town so that it corresponds to the background in the H scene, move the pixel characters of Kaya, Halcyon and Vincent when they're supposed to have their first scene, implement a light effect during the very first conversation between Kaya and Akane to simulate the evening etc... As you can see, there's stuff to do.
And the very last thing is not the less important because it's a whole set of UI improvements. What we started a couple of updates ago needs to be continued to have a better UI. As such, there's a plan of reworking the text boxes and the name boxes, tweaking the main screen of the menu (mainly the right side), make a proper visual element for the cleaning phase recap in the brothel...
So yeah, there are more things to do than meet the eye. And I won't promise I'll be able to finish them all. I have a very clear idea of the deadline though. I'd like v0.3 to be ready for December the 20th at the latest. We'll do our best to try and finish as much as we can for that update so that v0.3 can provide a good exeperience to both old and news players.
Of course, I'll come back in more explicit posts to detail some of those steps as I always do. And as always, I'll wait to have pictures to show before that :p
