The Hunter 2 v0.21 Log #9

Hello everyone,

After a bit of digging I realized I had enough to make two posts before the release (some things I thought I had shown were actually not shown ^^'). This is perfect, that'll make a round number of 10 logs.

Last time I showed you Kaya's new outfit. Today I'm going to show you two things: the inventory revamp and the last extra characters.

Let's start by the thing most of you don't care about: the inventory 8D

We spent some time with Hime trying to figure out a nice inventory layout (I'm mainly talking about UX here.) We ended up with that version. It fits better a 16:9 screen ratio (when the original inventory is meant for a 4:3 ratio.) There are three categories. The "items" is still pretty empty as I haven't implemented battle items yet (it should be the case in the update after this one.) But there's a bunch of key items.

You can see the items finally have icons 8D The key items are clickable (even if it's useless for most of them) because some exceptions like the Speed Shoes need to be clicked on to be activated. The description is at the bottom of the screen and of course, as you can expect, Kaya's outfits will be in the Outfits category. Of course, when you'll own the outfit of another character, it will also show up there, but will be unwearable. The last thing to mention is that the bottom left will show Wilderness, Stamina and Horniness so you can see the effects of potions and stuff like that directly.

In terms of UI it's basically the overall UI of the menu, with some tweaks (especially the buttons with the small fading on the side(s)). The most important part was to be satisfied with the UX. Now that it's done, if we want to impove some elements on a purely visual side, it's much easier. With that sub-menu done, we're slowly reaching the end of reworking the whole menus of the game. We have only two sub-menus left: the options and the save/load menu. Of course, we'll work on them as the development progresses.

Now, let me show you some of the new characters of that update. Like I mentioned in a previous post, some of these NPCs won't serve any purpose other than being NPCs (they may never be used).

Okay so, in this specific case, 2 of those characters won't remain unused. I'll start with the last one, Yaëlle. She's helping her parents handling the grocery store in the poor district. And for now, that's all there is to know. Unfortunately, she's the one that doesn't have any plans for now ^^'

Above her is Charles. He can hardly be considered unused because I'll spoil things: He's Vincent's brother. The two brothers will be at the center of the main quest of the next update so it was time to introduce you his brother (I created him at the same time I created Vincent). Personality-wise he's very different from his brother. He's far from being shy, can laugh easily but is also maybe a bit too much easygoing. A proper drinking buddy.

And lastly, at the top of this list lies Jimmy. I said there would be three homeless guys and I didn't lie. We have a homeless boy here 8D To be perfectly honest, not only Jimmy was the first "homeless" I created (He lives among the homeless as he's been abandonned by his parents), but I had planned him very early. As such, he WILL have a quest related to him in this update. But I'm not saying more ;)

That's all for today! I still have one last new character to show (there are technically two characters left, but the second one is an NPC for now that will have a use much later in the game so I'm not revealing her as I consider her one of the hottest girl I created, she deserves her own post :x) as well as something else concerning outfits. I'll also make a "money point" post (haven't done one for long) so you can see where I am in terms of income (spoiler: change rate fucks me a lot 8D)

I'll see you next time o/

It's just an emoji.I tend to use that one to symbolize a smug face (usually either when I say something I know people aren't interested in (the inventory) or when I say something I shouldn't be proud of (announcing things like icons only for this update) or also when I feel butthurt by something but gotta keep a smiling face (the yen/euro conversion rate).
