Little point on what's to come

Hello everyone!


I have different things to talk about for the next update but I first thought important to make a point about what you should expect. I'll make it short:


- Sex battles

- Finished brothel (as in "all mechanics")

- World Map


Those are the three main elements we're working on for the next update. The rest will depend on our speed to finish them. As I mentionned in an older post, I've already worked on sex battles before. There's a big piece to work on (namely skill animations) both for Hime (integrating them easily with MV's animation tool) and for me (trying to find a satisfactory look :x). Other than that, it's mainly a question of rendering the skills themselves. And I did well in not making them all as I'm considering the possibility of changing the 3D model of the creature ^^'


For the brothel, yeah, there are still stuff to do. However, with that update all the core features will be implemented and future updates will be meant for improve the brothel's features.


As for the World Map, well, that probably was a given, but still. I'll be honest. I tried making it with Parallax Mapping (you know, making it as a png under photoshop to break the squarish look of things?), but I gave up VERY quickly. The amount of pre-work it requires (basically creating stamps out of anything that isn't a single-piece element) is not only tedious but also quite counter-productive for a single map. If you have several forest maps, the time lost in creating the necessary tools to do parallax mapping can be earned back. But for a single map? That's definitely A LOT of time lost.)


So the map will be ugly :x Well, I'm working on something to compensate though. At that level it's so small that I'm actually showing you so you know it exists. Otherwise no one would've noticed (nor cared :x)


Here are two versions of Ominira. The top one is the one made with the presets I had at disposal thanks to a copyright free tileset I downloaded. (that was how it was supposed to look.) Now the bottom version is one I crafted in Photoshop. Each small house, the cobblestone ground for the market, Beatriz' mansion, the river etc... were imported manually and adapted (Beatriz' mansion's originally red for example and other houses were originally only orange or red as shown on the version above.) So I know it brings NOTHING and 99,99% of people won't give a single damn but that's the kind of detail I'm working on to compensate the fact that the rest of the map won't look that good. All the places in the game should be customized that way to give them a bit more personality (like in SoV.)


And since this post is revolving around mapping, I shouldn't stop at that. It happens that I bought a pack to redo the forest in SoV3 (it hadn't been released back during SoV3's dev time.) Considering the quality of that pack I though it would be stupid not to use it here too.

So I used it for one of the new places that will be accessible in the next update but I also ended up redoing the intro forest of the game (where you meet Talia.)


Because of MV's layering (preventing me to choose on which layer I want to put an element unlike on MZ), I can't make as many trees as I could in the original map. But it still looks ten times better, no? The biggest change being of course the "wall" trees that look ugly as fuck in the original and as square as possible when it's much more leafy-looking in the new version (with the leaves "spilling" on the walking path.)


Here are a couple of previews of the next area you'll get access too with that same tileset (and a bit more varied situations.) Keep in mind that those screenshots don't show events on map so there will be a bit more to see in game than what you see here.



Anyway, that's all for today. I hope the very few people interested by mapping liked what I showed x)


Of course, I'll make at least one post per key element I mentionned above. This one was about mapping/world map so I'll make a post about sex battles and another one about the new brothel mechanics. And if things go well, maybe another post about another feature I mentionned a couple of posts ago. I'll also come back to you very quickly to mention our next streaming session with Peak and JFC (which will be next saturday.)
