Dev Diary #4: Gameplay

As I promised last time, here's a bit of gameplay about the brothel.

Gotta do some disclaimer first though (especially for those of you who arrived meanwhile and didn't read the previous posts.)

1) All of this is WIP. Nothing's set to stone yet.

2) This is only the coding side of things. There's absolutely not a SINGLE UI element implemented. So it's as bare as can be. So don't fret if you find it ugly. It IS ugly x)

3) Due to the limitations of Fanbox I had to make a gif out of the recording (didn't feel like uploading TH2 content on Youtube :x) So as you can expect the framerate is very low. Don't pay attention to it, everything's smooth in the game :p

Anyway, here's the gif, and I'm going to comment it under. By the way I'm doing everything with the mouse but everything's keyboard responsive and is MEANT to be played with a keyboard. Do what I say not what I do 8D

Step 1 - When you open the brothel for the evening, you're brought to a first window showing you 6 smaller windows (Yeah we changed the layout ^^'). Each of those windows correspond to a specific room. You'll start the game with a single room. And throughout the game, you'll get the possibility to unlock new rooms. That's another story though. Here we unlocked 2 of them so you can get a better idea of how things work.

Step 2 - There's always a first custommer waiting. He'll display important informations allowing you to select carefully the girl. He'll show the desired look, the physical traits he prefers and his fetishes if he has one or more. Due to the fact that I didn't want it to turn into something too complex. So it's very basic. As long as the girl fits the look, you can completely go on if the rest doesn't fit.

Step 3 - The first room will be highlighted and you'll be able to select whatever open room you want and then validate it. That will bring you to the girl list. Hovering the selected girl will show her stats list on the right so you can pick the one you want depending on either your wish or the first custommer's desires. Then you click on her and she's validated for the selected room. In that instance I selected one for each room.

Step 4 - The bottom right square is meant to be the "start the night" button. Clicking there launches everything. I messed Hime's coding on that part so it's instantaneous on the gif, but normally you see a gauge filling over the head of each custommer to show the time passing. It will show a small animation of the girl attached to it :p

Step 5 - Once everything's over you're brought to the result screen. It will show you all the important information: How much a girl earned, how much she earned through tips, how much money does she keep etc... You end up with a total of money and a total of experience earned at the end of each night for each girl. There are still tweakings to do here: notably the experience should show XX/YY so you can see how much experience should the girl earn to reach her next rank. But you get the whole idea.

That's more or less the female side of the brothel. Considering it'll be the only way to pass time, and the major way to earn money, I didn't want to make it too complex. I'm perfectly aware that at some point there will be some grinding so I wanted it to be easy enough to use. So you simply have to choose a room, choose a girl and that's it. The first custommers will be easy to handle, but of course through the game's progression, you'll have trickier and trickier custommers that will require a bit of thinking if you wanna get a lof of cash from them :p And if you don't wanna bother, choosing a random girl won't give a penalty. Worst case, the custommer will leave.

That's it for today. I should be able to come back not too late to explain you the major other part of the brothel that I've kept secret until now: The creature side. Did you feel the creature part of the first game was a let down? It won't be the case anymore. Kaya will fight creatures and train them for the sake of satisfying women who'll dare coming to her brothel. But I won't say more for now. See you next time o/
