Happy Thanksgiving all! Black Friday has started early and I have made some software investments. First, I finally picked up, downloaded and activated the program that will allow me to convert extracted video game characters into DAZ Genesis 8 characters. When you see characters like Gemma on sites like Renderosity, this is almost 100% the program that they are using. This could open up another income stream for me and I may open up a tier on Patreon for the sale of these converted models.
Second, I purchased the entire AiArty suite. They offered a Black Friday discount, perpetual licenses and most-importantly, perpetual updates. Topaz Labs has gone evil and has abandoned it's legacy programs: Photo Ai (whch was always shite) Gigapixel 8, and Video Ai. I still have licenses to those programs but if I want upgrades, I have to buy into a subscription model for online versions. Adobe called. They want their vile business model back.
So for about $270 bucks, I have AiArty's photo editor, video editor and matte program. The last one I didn't need per-say, but it was a cheap add-on and will let me easily separate characters from their backgrounds in Post. It does this extremely well - way better than Photoshop.
I was having a look at the upscaled stills from my last video. Franky, I was disgusted. Gigapixel 8 might be OK with converting an HD, live-action photograph to 4K, but with these animated stills, it did an utterly crap job. Smears and distortions everywhere. Unacceptable and I'm sorry.
Fortunately AiArty's image upscaler was up to the job. Everything is so crisp and detailed, so much so that I'll be using a different model within the program that doesn't auto sharpen everything. Just look into Minthara's eyes and see the details in her lashes and irises. They are seductive and not crayon nightmare fuel.
The real test will be to see how well the video upscaler works. Can it beat Topaz's Starlight? The answer may be yes, by a mile. One thing is for sure. It will be 10 times faster. No more waiting a day for one of my 5090's to render 30 minutes of video.
So, I'm happy to bring you these much improved files. Have a side-by side look against the last post and I think you'll agree that there is a world of improvement.
