Hello Hunters!
I am sending this out tonight in preparation of Marches monster hunt that I will be posting tomorrow. I have updated Amellwinds Guide to Monster Hunting with GM tools for creating your own hunt in a way that will feel more natural and different each time you run the hunt.
For the GM, it will provide you with a faster time to create your hunts in addition to not having to plan exactly how the hunt is going to go from start to finish. It gives you choices on what you want to do depending on the groups actions, and provides you some flexibility while rewarding good rolls, and bringing nature down on the party on failures. Nothing you do should ever instantly kill the party, but it might require them to run away.
For the Player, it provides new roles that you can take as your hunt begin. A trailblazer will lead the party and make decisions on where to go. They will send out the scout ahead to do what they do best... scout. Typically they are more than a few minutes ahead so what they might see might not always be what is there when the party arrives in the area. That is where the spotter comes in. Your lookout, the person who keeps an eye on potential ambushes or traps that the party may walk into that the scout may have missed or been setup after they left the area. Finally we have the Artisan, who is still a work in progress, their eventual goal is to provide food buffs at the start of the hunt in addition to being able to locate ingredients as they travel around on their hunts.
Thank you all for your support and please let me know what you think about this update in the discord general chat and if you have questions please feel free to reach out to me on patreon, discord, or reddit.
The updated guide can be found here for viewing or download. This is also the same link as the introduction link if you want to pick it up there.
