Big Production Update and News on the Next Poll!

Dear Patrons,

First I'd like to say thank you to everyone who's posted such kind comments about the 'Napoleon: Endgame' video. It's great to hear how much you've enjoyed it, and I hope most of you feel it was a fitting culmination to our Napoleonic Wars series, which has now been 2 years in the making! And also a big welcome to all the new Patrons who've recently signed up to support the channel - thank you!

I'll get straight to what most of you want to hear about, the next poll: I'll make a new post tomorrow for all Citizens of EHTV and above: it will be an open forum for everyone to make suggestions for future topics, which will run until Saturday. I'll use this to see which topics have the most support, and then create a short-list for us to vote on next week. (I've already promised one option will be 'more Napoleon' due to popular demand.)

Any 'Builders of EHTV' who'd like to take part in the poll - now would be a good time to get  enfranchised as a citizen ($2+)!

While working on the Napoleonic series, I've also been developing some new ideas with some talented collaborators, which I'll  be releasing over the next several months. Here's a little preview...

First up, I've been working with James, a very skilled 3D animator and all-round space boffin, to create a  3-part series on the Apollo Program. The skill, technology and courage involved in the Space Race have long fascinated me, and even for those not normally interested in the topic, I hope the EHTV blend of facts, narration, music and animations will get you hooked. James is very good at what he does and this should be a great-looking series, here's a little preview of his work...

Second, I've been clambering over English castles since I was a boy, and when I recently bumped into a skilled architectural artist, the opportunity was too good to miss... The working title of this project is 'How to Build the Perfect Castle', and it will be a fact-packed, fast-moving overview of the development of the castle in Europe, from 11th century motte-and-bailey castles to the imposing stone curtain walls and keeps of the 14th century. Here's another work-in-progress shot to whet your appetite...

Lastly, I've had a Battle of Salamis video on the back-burner for several months (unfortunately the original collaborator dropped out), but this September is the 2,500th anniversary of this critical battle of the ancient world. So that is now the target date for completion of this project. For those that don't already know, this was the great victory by a  Greek coalition navy over the Persian fleet in 480BCE - a MUCH more important battle than Thermopylae, but not nearly as famous! I'll be covering all the history, naval tech and tactics of the campaign, and artwork from Russel (who created the art for the Alexander the Great speech) will help to give this a cool and original look...

I hope you will be as excited as I am to see how these projects develop and come to fruition.  And I'll be working on these alongside whatever YOU decide the next topic should be!

None of these videos would be possible without your support for the channel. So a massive, sincere thank you to you all again. More updates soon (including some new Napoleonic merch...)

Toby

Comments

Stoked about literally each project you mentioned on here!

In my humble opinion: a space race series similar to the Magellan and Drake videos would be amazing. Continuing the theme of human exploration.
