Friday Update - July 19

 

Hello, patrons and everyone else!

Since this is my first post I am going to set it to public so that everyone can see what kind of posts I'll be making. In the future these posts will be restricted to $5 and up patrons.

First, thank you to the patrons for taking the leap and supporting a new creator! I know it's not easy to do, and I appreciate your early support.

As you know, I released 0.1 on Monday and the response has been pretty great. It appears to me that a lot of people were amused, many were confused, and a few were irritated. The confusion is intentional, of course. It's a different game and things aren't going to make sense for a while. Some were irritated at the confusing nature of the game, which I can't do anything about. Others were irritated at things like the single text options, and that is something I can and will fix in 0.2.

Others were annoyed that options weren't impactful and there was no branching, and to them all I can do is ask for their patience. There will be some big choices coming up, and some significant branching. The update will start introducing variables that the characters will remember.

The next update will also be longer than the intro, but I'm afraid some might still be disappointed. The intro was around 150 renders. For the update I'm shooting for 200. That's about as much as I can do in a month until I upgrade my video card. It's all about the rendering time.

Right now the rendering is at around 15% complete. You should see about 25% completion per week, though this week I released 0.1 so it'll be a little less. Once the rendering hits 100%, the post-processing and coding will take a few days and that'll be it.

Finally, to the patrons who were brave enough to support me from the start: thank you again. I will refund you August's charge because 0.1 released in the middle of the month.
