CAD dimensions reference

There are things you learn when doing CAD for 3D printing, only after lots of trial and error or looking at other cads and how they did it (but then you have to trust they did it correctly). This is a reference of things that are solid and tested.
All models forward will be using these, but old model I made may not be as good, and will someday need revisiting

Using a common 0.4mm nozzle

Tight fit between two printed pieces:
- 0.2mm gap
Loose fit between two printed pieces:
- 0.4mm gap
M3 screws:
- head opening: 6mm
- head depth: 3.4mm
- slide through opening: 3.6mm
- screw hole opening when securing into plastic: 3mm
M3 bolt (hex) - easy slide (used for my direct drive mount, and compatible with square bolt)
- width 5.8
- height 3.5
M2.5 screws:
- head opening: 5mm
- head depth: 2.8mm
- slide through opening: 3mm
- screw hole opening when securing into plastic: 2.5mm
Heat inserts M3x4x5 (sizexLxOD) in a blind hole:
- opening: 4.7mm
- depth: 5mm (plus max screw length, if possible make it 7mm to take into account the soldering iron tip length, not always doable, but if space allows do it)
- chamfer: 0.4mm
thinest walls
- 1.2mm
medium wall
- 1.8mm
thick solid wall
- 2mm or more
Pneumatic Fitting thread M6 and M10
- 1mm thread
- 4.5mm tall
- scale up thread by a factor of 1.1 in X and Y, keep height the same
