DolphiniOS 3.1.0 (89)

Version 3.1.0 (89) is now available for testing.

- Added support for iOS 13.5 and iOS 13.5.1 on non-jailbroken devices.

-> This will come with a 30% to 60% performance trade off, even if you are on iOS 13.4.1 or below. (Jailbroken devices are not affected.)

-> If you do not want the performance penalty, then you must jailbreak your device. If your device has an A11 processor or lower (iPhone X or lower), you can use checkra1n.

-> For those who are still on iOS 13.4.1 or below, you may stay on the old 3.0 build. This will be permanently accessible on our website at https://dolphinios.oatmealdome.me.

-> iOS 14 is not supported on non-jailbroken devices due to Apple patching workarounds used by several unofficial apps, including DolphiniOS. When we have more information on iOS 14 support, we will let everyone know.


- Added a properties menu to the games list.

-> Long press on a game in the games list, and press the properties option.

-> See information about your game dump here.


- Added basic support for Action Replay codes.

-> Find it in the game properties menu.

-> There is no support for adding new codes yet, but Dolphin has many AR codes bundled with it.


- Added support for Dolphin's disc verifier.

-> Verify your game dumps and find potential errors.

-> Find it in the properties menu.


- Updated the Dolphin core to 5.0-12151.

-> Please note that because the Dolphin core has been updated in this version, all save states from version 3.0.0 and older are incompatible.

-> This core update includes support for the WIA and RVZ formats, which are intended as replacements for the NKit format.

-> NKit disc images have issues which do not occur with other formats (see here for more information: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/8875), so the Dolphin Project is encouraging adoption of WIA and RVZ as alternatives.

-> DolphiniOS cannot convert to WIA or RVZ yet, so you will need to use the PC version of Dolphin for now to convert your disc images.


- Updated MoltenVK to approximately 1.2.141.1.

-> We are using a self-compiled build, instead of one provided by LunarG.

-> This is because we have made modifications to MoltenVK to support some of the game fixes listed below.


- Synchronized build numbers between jailbroken and non-jailbroken builds.


- Added additional fixes and mitigations to try and fix the poor performance bug.


- Fixed incorrect rendering of the stage and objects in Kirby's Air Ride.

-> The changes that fixed this game should also fix minor rendering bugs in several other games, like incorrect object shadows in Star Fox Adventures.


- Fixed invisible HUDs and menus in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors with a temporary hack.

-> It appears this might be a bug with a component of the JIT (the fast CPU emulator). We have disabled the problematic component so that the HUDs and menus render again. 

-> However, this comes with a tradeoff. When the JIT attempts to use that component, it will fallback to the interpreter (the slower, but more accurate, CPU emulator).

-> Therefore, performance will be decreased slightly when running these games.


- Fixed collision and positioning bugs with NPCs in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door with a temporary hack.

-> See above.


- Fixed reversal of up and down on the touchscreen controller's analog sticks in Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.


Known Issues:

- Action Replay codes with long names may cause the on/off switch to be pushed past the edge of the screen.

- The Gecko tab in the game properties menu does nothing.

I just install and had the frozen issue forec reboot and add a wii game and worked, I then copied some more files went back to the app and is non responsive with game and setting on the bottom seems stuck in that state

iOS 14 has something that will help, but it's currently restricted to paid Apple developer accounts ($99/year). As for things we can do, not much. -Oatmeal

Is the performance hit on 13.6 something that might have optimizations down the road? (bought a new phone so stuck on iOS 13.6/A13).

Was just playing around and found I can’t seem to get the motion controls to work with Mario kart wii when using touch screen controls anymore. Is this a bug? Or did something change? Went through settings and they should be working from the what I can tell.

Thanks for this advice. After playing around in the debug settings i was able to play sands of time for GameCube. I found turning on “Load store floating point disabled” seems to fix this bug and a graphical error it was also having.

Desktop Dolphin has some support for this, but you have to manually type in all the settings or mess around with INI files, which is a pain. If the official Dolphin project integrates a better solution, we will add it to DolphiniOS. For now, INI hacking is the only way to go about this. -OatmealDome

I have not, since neither of us own the game. You may be able to fix it by turning on one of the JIT settings in Settings -> Debug. If you find an option that stops the dying bug, then let us know and we'll force the setting on for the Prince of Persia games in the next Patreon release. -OatmealDome

Have you looked into bugs with the Prince of Persia games? Sands of time for GameCube gets stuck in a loop of your character “dying” as soon as you reach the title menu. One of its sequels warrior within or rival swords for Wii maybe? has a similar bug immediately after the intro video of starting game play. I have not read anything about this bug being present on the pc version of dolphin.
