This is one of the best episodes of Season Four. Obviously, Ephiny dying is a big deal. Amarice, an Amazon from... some other tribe, was played by Jennifer Sky. There's a next-to-nil chance you'll remember this, but she also played one of the hyena people in "The Pack" in the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. ... Gabby was a questionable queen already, but now that she's a pacifist, she really strains credulity as an Amazon. But oh well.

Love how Gabrielle steps into power in her own way and Xena is able to lead from the back and take on duties that allow gabrielle to still stick to her beliefs. They showed such a lovely balance of both of their strength and both of their leadership styles while uplifting each other. Also side note: Gabrielle's face when Xena said 'I surrender before Gabrielle'? ....thoughts were had by Gabrielle lol 🥵

2025-01-17 21:13:15 +0000 UTC‘Endgame’ is one of my favorite episodes in relation to Gabrielle’s personal journey. She really starts to realize what she is capable of and who she really wants to be. There’s a wise leader in her if not true leader of the Amazons. The show did its best to represent The Amazons for what they were but they couldn’t really do that if Gabrielle would continually choose Xena and the story of the show was so fully focused on their relationship and the ever-evolving love and devotion to each other. Xena is a love story and in a love story you choose your love over all else. It’s not an Amazon story. But it tries. And that’s all that I could ever ask for because I want the love story so much more than the Amazon story.
