Ah but see Lao Ma was the first woman who actively showed her goodness and tried to change Xena. Xena seems to develop a fetish for that kind of thing as the show goes on likely because of her. Of course you could argue M’Lila was first because M’Lila sacrificed herself for Xena. But Xena wasn’t looking for that. Like it wasn’t as appealing to her as it is when she meets Lao Ma. Basically… It’s Lao Ma’s fault.

2024-11-07 20:10:48 +0000 UTCThat's a great question and I kinda like that they leave it unanswered.. the Alti/Anakin mentor/apprentice dynamic seems to parallel the Xena/Gabrielle mentor/apprentice dynamic, but it's the evil version 😆 it seems that that dynamic led to Anakin's death so you could draw a parallel there with Gabrielle and how living with Xena has caused so much pain for her.. it's all very interesting and left open for interpretation

2024-11-07 19:51:33 +0000 UTCSuch a great season opener. I've so many questions about ?anakin- I wish they would have delved more into her. Was she suppose to be proto-Gabrielle? As Xena did seem mighty distraught over her death..despite only knowing her for 2 seconds. Makes you wonder if Alti, who sees the future, knew about Gabrielle and what she would mean to her and brought gabby-like anakin to Xena on purpose to sway her. People have complex feelings re Alti, but I love her.

2024-11-07 18:13:26 +0000 UTCYeah, this season has a lot going on for it. I feel like the show shifts gears here and tells different kinds of stories. I can't say I don't prefer the structure of the first three seasons, cause I really do, but season 4 is super interesting. Like, it's probably my favorite even though it's so different than what came before. I just have to say that the Borias actor is really good. He was perfectly cast. And so was Alti. I didn't like her so much my first go around but she's really grown on me lol. Looking forward to the next reaction!
