I agree, and I love how this opens the debate of whether evil is by nature o by nurture.. X and G have contrasting positions on this, it's clear.. I just love how complex and how cuestionable these characters and their actions can be, so much to unpack and debate

2024-10-02 23:38:51 +0000 UTCThis episode is amazing, and i still have "controversial" opinion about, I do belive she could have been good or at least fought her father's manipulations if she had Gabrielle with her, we lost Hope the minute was force to send Hope away because of Xena, I do still love Xena but I also belive she was in the wrong there, if was her child i know for a fact she would fought for her harder, Xena is also just very selfish sometimes, being very jealous of Gabrielle, one of my favorite debate topics about this show is how complex Xena's love for Gabrielle is and also how Hope could've been a good enough person.

And my personal favourite episode of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ of all-time. You thought this episode was good. Oh baby, you have no idea what you’re about to watch next. 🤗 Not only that but by next episode, you’ll be at the half-way point of the entire show.

2024-09-25 19:24:41 +0000 UTCI agree that this is a phenomenal episode. One of the best of the series for me. We finally get to see what it takes to knock Gabrielle of the pedestal Xena puts her on. It took the murder of her own child for Xena to finally be able to see Gabrielle as anything but perfect and faultless. It's devastating but it's so important in their ability to move forward as 2 complex, flawed humans, who love eachother.

For a person who is constantly filled with hate and anger, she is very expressive and self-reflective about the way she feels. Always honest about how deeply depressed she is. Even to her worst enemy. In comparison Xena barely even moves, yet she displays so much stood there with tears threatening to fall from her eyes, holding all her emotion in as best she can. You can really feel for both characters here even though they’re not really doing anything. Remarkable acting ability. They play off each other so well. I’ve noticed something very significant between how Xena, Gabrielle and Callisto handles emotion. Xena doesn’t show it, or rarely. Callisto always shows it, without caring, and Gabrielle can’t help but show it, as she’s the empath. They’re all different because one struggles with expressing emotion, another is past the point of caring whether she expresses it or not, and the latter has no choice in the matter but to express it. Describe Xena, Gabrielle and Callisto in one word based on the way they treat others emotionally. Xena: sympathetic Gabrielle: empathetic Callisto: apathetic I love analyzing human behaviour THIS SHOW IS INCREDIBLE!

2024-09-25 14:10:59 +0000 UTCWell, that was early! In more ways than one. You're not alone in finding that episode one of the best. It's drama as heavy as an anvil, and it's done especially well. It draws on a lot of previous episodes and characters, and most obviously "Gabrielle's Hope." And it ends on Xena and Gabrielle standing over the pyres of their dead children, and then walking away from each other. It's a WHAM episode, and it's a great one.
