The fact that the King refused to consider Rhaenyra's children bastards really messed with Alicent's head. Which is probably why she was so ready to pretend he was really talking about her son when he died. Cuz there was no way she had any idea what he was talking about and if most of it didn't make sense to her, then she should have discounted the entire death statement.

Either she doesn't produce heirs and is shit on for it or she goes the route she did and is shit on for it. The simple fact is, the King recognizes them as true born and Laenor recognized them as true born - that's all that matters, which makes Jace Rhaenyra's heir.

2023-01-29 02:02:21 +0000 UTCI'm just now catching up on these reactions, but yessssss finally someone else said that Alicent was doing shady stuff behind Rhaenyra's back as well. In my opinion, Rhaenyra didn't owe Alicent any kind of explanation during that conversation; Alicent forfeited that right when she failed to tell Rhaenyra about spending time with her father behind closed doors.
