A production update on "The Mind Society" and discussing our polls
Added 2020-10-01 20:08:32 +0000 UTCOur “Mind Society” update is almost completed, at this point we need about 50 more renders; we may want to add a few animations and if we do that would slow us down a bit. Either way we should be ready for release in 10 days or so 🤞 .
Now to the polls and our take on the results. First of all we would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote and even more so those who offered their insight in the comments. Concerning our “Mind Society” poll our take away is that even among our supporters a considerable percentage would be disappointed by the original script so we spiced it up quite a bit by adding a few more “juicy” parts without derailing the plot completely. It may still come through as a bit tame but we're building up for things to come; which conveniently bring us around to discussing our second poll.
The biggest takeaway is also the biggest downer 😞 , it seems that very few peoples are actually interested in the game AND the comics. In practical terms that mean that no matter which way we go almost half our audience here on Patreon will be somewhat disappointed.
As for the time being we're still unable to sell our comics (or at least to receive any profit from the actual sales) it would seem to make sense to keep focusing on “The Mind Society” that way we could have the next update in a month or so rather then in five. A lot depend on how well version 0.4.1. is received; we'll find out soon enough 😰 .
For anyone who is been following our “payment gateway” drama it turns out the reason why this is taking so long is because of copyright issues. It may be related to at least one comic in our store which is a very thin veiled parody of a famous sci-fi franchise or even some of the material in our “odds and ends” we're still waiting from our new partner to elaborate on what exactly the offending material is but if we have to remove any comic from the store we will try to offer it here as a Patreon exclusive.

Most of our patrons at this point would probably agree with you but revenue-wise the comic sales are still what backs all other projects. We're focusing on the game right now because we simply can't receive revenues from the comics; it may sound good in the short term but in the long term it's gonna hurt us and all of our projects. Let's all hope we can sort this situation out soon.

2020-10-05 04:40:59 +0000 UTCThank you. I think that both parody and fan art are considered fair use but I am not sure that applies to products that one intend to actually make a profit from. At any rate we have to conform to whatever is acceptable for our partner; it may turn out their internal guidelines are stricter then what is allowed by law. Personally I don't mind them erring on the site of caution or even having to take down one or two of our older comics, the real damage is more related to the snail pace at which everything is moving 😓
