One Year of The Endless Empire — What a Journey

One Year of The Endless Empire

Exactly one year ago, I uploaded the first chapter of The Endless Empire — and now, look where we are.

Did I know it would turn out like this? Nope, I didn’t.

Honestly, I never dreamed of becoming a writer in the first place. I just loved stories, and after writing the first few chapters, it became impossible to stop.

Looking back, it probably helped that I had no expectations, because, man, things were tough back then. Studying full-time while writing five chapters a day was rough.

And it’s not just about writing those chapters — you also have to build a backlog for exam periods so you can focus on studying later.

Then Patreon happened, and I basically reinvested all the Patreon income into covers and ads.

Now, I can live off that income and even have a publisher. Those are things I could’ve never dreamed of, and I’m incredibly thankful for it.

Still, I’m not entirely secure as a full-time author yet — a lot depends on how well The Endless Empire performs on Amazon.

But at the end of the day, I just love writing stories of all kinds and sharing them with others.

The Less Fun Part: Plagiarism

At some point, I discovered that plagiarism is, unfortunately, pretty common. Those who joined around four months ago know that I used to post a few extra stories on weekends.

Back then, I thought it would be fun — readers got some bonus chapters, and I’d receive a bit of extra feedback.

It never crossed my mind that some sites would simply copy them. That’s why I eventually decided to post The Amulet of Broken Time on Royal Road — which, sadly, didn’t perform too well.

Someone had copied it on a Reddit page and another website, both of which are now gone.

In hindsight, it might not have been necessary to launch it on Royal Road at all, since those sites were taken down without me even doing anything. I guess I wasn’t the only author that person stole from.

Still, it is what it is — and there’s nothing I can change now. I still think The Amulet of Broken Time is a great story, and I really enjoy writing it. My guess is that Royal Road just isn’t the right place for it since it’s neither a real cultivation novel nor a LitRPG.

Moving Forward

All of that happened a few months ago and honestly put me down for a bit. But then, the first book of Tales of the Endless Empire came back from the editor.

Now that I’m feeling better, I’m hoping to finish it in the next few days so I can send it back to the publisher. The only things still missing are the new cover and the audiobook.

The plan is to release it on Amazon early next year — and that will probably decide whether I can continue as a full-time author. But so far, things are looking good.

Thank You ❤️

None of this would be possible without you.

It might sound a bit crazy, but I still remember the names of the very first people who subscribed on Patreon. In fact, out of the first fifty supporters, thirty-six are still subscribed today.

Follows and likes are great, but your support truly changed my life. Finding something you love doing — and being able to call it your job — is an incredible gift that’s hard to put into words.

I know hearing “thank you” all the time might get repetitive, so if I didn’t mess anything up, there should be a code available until next Sunday that gives you 50% off.

Like I said before — likes and follows are nice, but money helps more. And unlike many people who just say things, I genuinely mean it.

Thank you again, and have fun reading!

P.S. This is the more serious post. A lighter, more fun one (featuring the governor in some trouble) will go up on Royal Road soon. I didn’t want to double post.

Congrats! To many more years 🎉

Congratulations on one year of “Tails of the Endless Empire”! I'm only a Royal Road reader, but I really love your story. I just wanted to add that I think “The Amulet of Broken Time” will probably attract more readers like myself. It certainly sounds great! I’m planning to wait a bit until it has more chapters, because I prefer immersing myself in stories without having to wait for updates. So I just wanted to let you know—I believe that, with time, the story will perform much better!
