My Singing Monsters: fauna of Mythical Island
Added 2025-12-29 21:20:46 +0000 UTCGenerous patron O. asked me to create an illustrated landscape of "Mythical Island" from the famous computer game My Singing Monsters -featuring a monster I'd illustrated before, Bleatnik - and two new critters; Cataliszt and Wheezel.
I had drawn Bleatnik before as a stand-alone critter, here it is!
Here is my process for Cataliszt - just a very quick sketch inspired by the original art.
And here is my progress for Wheezel:
Then, it was time to tackle the landscape of Mythical Island itself. This is what the level looks like in the game:
I interpreted this as a thundra-like landscape, with tree-like growths and disk-shaped platforms dotting the view.
I placed my MSM critters over this landscape and created a final line-art composite:
I then used an oils-emulator brush on Photoshop and painted the area outside the lines as one flat layer.
And once again, here is the final composite!
