A realistic "Europa Hookmouth"
Added 2025-05-23 11:02:44 +0000 UTCMy realistic take on the "Europa Hookmouth" - a meme-creature purportedly seen on "secret NASA footage" taken on Europa, the ice-moon of Jupiter.
This creature was popularised through extremely shoddy images shared on TikTok and other social media platforms. In time it took a life of its own among conspiracy theorists and "cryptid" enthusiasts.
Using these I drew up my own realistic interpretation of the Hookmouth, as a large-eyed, abyssal predator. One of the most popular depictions showed it with no lateral fins - so I imagined the Hookmouth with a lateral jet pump-ballast system to remain stable underwater.
These were my early studies for this creature.
This was the initial drawing - I later swapped its jaws and edited its body proportions considerably before completing the final colour rendition.
