2024-01-28 06:42:18 +0000 UTCThe rebirth referenced by the Renaissance was a rebirth of classicist values, driven by a newly literate merchant class who had an explosion of newly printed classical texts to read. Really, it was a bunch of reactionaries rediscovering olden tomes that were used to build an iconoclastic relationship of capital, wealth, and mercantile power into an emerging urbane society.
