PATRONS FIRST: I range tested Ghost.

Patrons get an early look at the results of my Ghost vs. Crossfire range test. Tony Cake tells me that the results are more impressive than they seem. The Ghost statistics on the back of the module are not generated by the module; they're sent from the receiver back to the module. The reason this is impressive is that the receiver's telemetry is only trasmitted at 22 mW. So although the module was transmitting at 350 mW, the fact that we were still seeing telemetry updates meant we were actually within the 22 mW range of the system.

JB - never mind Ghost - when are we getting a review of Shark Byte? :)

From what I can tell on the OpenTX page the first version of the X9D will continue to get new versions so I would expect that it will get support. Worst case it should work in sbus mode which won’t have all the latency benefits of the Ghost protocol but it will work.

With a quick look I’m not seeing builds of OpenTX for the T8SG but I have heard of people running crossfire modules with DeviationTX in ppm mode. I couldn’t find anything concrete about Sbus support but if DeviationTX supports sbus for external modules it should be able to work with the ghost. Although it won’t have all the latently benefits that OpenTX will have since it will be missing the Ghost protocols between the transmitter and the module.

Still would like to see how Ghost compares to the FlySky FRM-302

Can you do this same test but with a GoPro on both quads to see when they failsafe if you have them armed and strapped down?

Will the Ghost System work with my ancient Taranis X9D (first version) (with latest OpenTX Firmware)?

Wow the CEO of a company telling you his stuff is impressive! Haha yes I’m a skeptic and will wait until it gets out into the real world and the average persons hands to see how it does. All that aside, thanks for the video JB, competition is always needed!

very promising! how soon till you hit up a bando or brando?

Good stuff, you guys did some exercise there haha

Moreno Antunes

Great video. Loved seeing Stingy, I am neck deep in the TBS ecosystem but competition is always a good thing.

I'm sure he must have been at 50 Hz by the end

Joshua Bardwell

I'll wait on more testing but so far looks great

Looks very promising/cool. Of course like others, I finally have my entire fleet(over 20 quads) switched over to crossfire. I have a Tango 2, and I JUST bought a RM TX16s with the full 2W TX w/Bluetooth, for really long range. I spent some serious cash converting EVERYTHING. Obviously that’s when this would come out🙄. I’m not a racer, and only fly with 3-4 people at a time, At lease I know that I have a PROVEN system. Absolutely no reason to switch. It would be stupid to jump on the Hype-train at this point. Glad to see innovation/competition though.

Awesome having Kevin help out. Very interesting test results. 👍🤓

Complete newbie here, and this module will be compatible with all radios? I have a jumper t8sg v2 running deviation tx but I think it can work with open tx although I have not tried it.

Now, all we need is a very good reason to move all our quads from Crossfire to Ghost! :-P

Carlos Vicente

I mean the whole 22mW is all that needed sounds pretty crazy but hey the evidence doesn’t lie. Anyone know what power the crossfire transmits telemetry? Also what speed link was Stingy running? He only mentioned output power. I think that can affect your range as well but I’m not 100% sure.

(meanwhile, someone drives off with their quads)

"Mine too!"

"Wait ... my link quality is dropping dramatically. This is weird."

Very cool

holy damn

Sounds like you need a road trip to Detroit to test in some bando’s!

Set two radios to log telemetry, and set them ten feet apart on a table. Start both recievers at once with a 5v power supply. And drive the car down a dirt road. Through the trees, and around large structures. When youre done, youll have xml files from each radio and you can easily put the two RSSI and LQ traces on single graphs.

Noice, thats my favorite hotel chain when traveling by car. Also this technology looks promising. Looking forward to see what develops!

After watching this video, I am so happy I took a leap of faith and ordered on the first day of the pre-order. :) I hope further testing shows that it will hold up!

I propose a test method. Take the two recievers and put them both with their antennas perfectly mounted on each end of a piece of wood or plastic. Then tape the board up onto someone's roof rack, up off the roof at least a foot high.

Works now

Cody Blotske

Okay, the video works... thanks!

Sorry guys I scheduled the video for release tomorrow, forgetting that makes it private.

Joshua Bardwell

JB will fix it I’m sure

James Phipps

Private for me too but anyway, can't wait to see this video!

Yea private video, can’t watch it.

Javier Molina

Same here, what happened?

Now it's saying the video is private

Cody Blotske

I just got my Crossfire kit last week, too. Competition is great, though. Great video.

The video is down!
