Prince of Persia - Clash in the Catacombs / Escape The Dahaka

Okay, describe what's happening here comprehensively, but succinctly... I'll try my best =) The Prince of Persia series currently has nine mainline titles, starting in 1989, with the latest installment coming out only last year. The games form multiple groups of continuity. The first three games form one group, the first two are 2D platformers and were widely loved, the third is 3D, but that one wasn't very popular, which led the original developer to sell the IP to Ubisoft in 2001. Next is the Sands of Time series, which is a reboot. The original author, Jordan Mechner, was invited to work on the first game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003), and it was dope. It had a great story, innovative mechanics, and pretty aesthetics. TBH, I don't remember the music too much, but it was much closer to the expectations you stated in this video. Then Warrior Within came, in which the franchise entered a brief, but only that much more passionate edgelord phase. This is what you heard here. Both these songs full of crunchy, in-your-face guitars, are from Warrior Within. There's also more emphasis on combat in the game, there's blood and brutality, women in nonsensical fetish outfits, darker storyline, less color in visuals (the game's basically brown and red), you name it. The Two Thrones tried to strike a balance between the two previous games, and it did, though my favorite is still Sands of Time. Then in 2008, they made a game called simply Prince of Persia. A new protagonist, a new story. This one I liked very much. Reminded me of Sands of Time a lot, but it has its own identity. Someday, I'll request the main theme from this, 'cause it's awesome. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (2010) returns to the Sand of Time timeline. I've played it, but I barely remember it. It wasn't bad per se, just forgettable. After a fourteen year long pause, Ubisoft returned to PoP last year with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. I've seen it pop up in my recommendations, but I haven't played it, yet, so I can't really comment on it. Seems like another reboot. I think that Sands of Time (the game) is a nice, short game in the realm of maybe 10-15 hours, depending on how well you're doing and how much you explore. The experience is worth it, IMO, and would be highest recommendation from the series. My second highest would be Prince of Persia (2008). Warrior Within is a bit meh, The Two Thrones somewhat fixes it, and The Forgotten Sands is...aptly named. As for the genre, they're 3D platformers/puzzle games with varying amounts of combat. That's it, that's my take.
