Megami Tensei is the name that covers every part of the series. Persona, SMT, Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga, etc. Sometimes known as Megaten for short. The very first game in the series was on the NES called Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. Then came SMT, then Devil Summoner and Persona, then Digital Devil Saga, followed by Devil Survivor. Hope this isn't too long haha it's hard to condense all that info. Even fans get confused, especially because the naming conventions were different in Japan vs the West.
