Gundam Battle Assault - Q-Mantha / Acguy / Hydra Gundam

Gundam: The Battle Master 2 was first released in Japan in March of 1998 but wasn't localized in NA as Gundam: Battle Assault until November of 2000. Why the 2 and half year gap? Well, Gundam as a franchise had a major boost in popularity in NA due to the debut of the Gundam Wing anime on Cartoon Network. When the game was localized for NA, there were considerable changes made to make it relate to the Gundam Wing anime, which the Japanese version had no relation to. Afterwords the Gundam: Battle Assault version was released in Japan as well. Gundam: The Battle Master 2 took the mobile suits (mechs) from the anime but used a completely original story and cast that had nothing to due with the shows that the mobile suits originated from from. The Japanese song titles are named after the characters who pilot the mobile suits. When the game was localized for North America, the story was replaced with one starring the main Gundam Wing protagonist and the rest of the cast was replaced by the original anime pilots . So the JP song titles won't mean anything to anyone who is only familiar with NA version The NA song titles are named after the mobile suits. I went with the Japanese OST because that is the version which has proper looping. The NA versions on youtube all have incorrect looping, when I looked into the reason I found out that playing the game CD in a music disc player would only play each track for 2 minutes maximum despite the length of original track in game. To answer a couple of your questions, yes that brown mobile suit is the Acguy. The mobile suits do have three life bars and draining one will cause a knock down. The green numbers at the top are an ammo counter for their main range attack. This is one of those games that I spent quite a bit of time playing with my friends when it came out.
