So, “The Poem for Everyone’s Souls” is a song that has appeared in every Persona game since the first one. This specific rendition was first used in Persona 3 and has remained unchanged since then. The version you heard here is the same one you’ll hear in Persona 3, Persona 4, and the Persona 2 remasters.
It is the theme for the Velvet Room, a place that exist between dreams and reality, mind and matter. It is a place only those that are bound by a contract may enter. It is where you fuse Personas, a process of taking two or more weaker Personas and throwing them all together to create one that is far stronger. From 3 onwards the Velvet Room takes a form that represents its guest’s (the protagonist) heart. In 3, it’s an elevator, in 4, a limousine driving through fog, in 5 it is a prison.
This rendition (and by extension “The Battle for Everyone’s Souls”) is sung by Tomoko Komiya.
The song also has a couple of different names depending on localisation. These include “Aria of The Soul” and “Hymn of The Soul”. This also applies to “The Battle for Everyone’s Souls” with another name being “Battle Hymn of the Soul”.

Fun fact: this song appears in every persona game since the very first one. It’s the only song that is always included in some form in each installment of the series.

The battle for everyone’s souls is taking the leitmotif of the velvet room theme poem for everyone’s souls. It is that one inspired the other but not the battle inspiring the poem but the poem inspiring the battle

Most of the games have a simple animation of the two mythical monsters fusing to create something like mothman (yes that real) but persona five is a bit hardcore as the fusion method includes killing the personas with a guillotine. Hardcore stuff as the beautiful singing in the background crescendos. I also got goosebumps when I first heard this song

This song plays in an area called the velvet room, this is only the most recent release of this song as each of the persona games contain the velvet room and thusly this song. The velvet room is were you create the personas you use in battle meaning that this song plays as you decide what personas to fuse together.
