The lines are generally improvised, but they typically follow standard plots and character archetypes. This includes the likes of Tartaglia (the Stutterer), Pantalone (Pantaloon), Arlecchino (the Harlequin), and of course, La Signora (the Lady). In particular, La Signora is meant to be a cold and calculating but beautiful and seductive woman, who is signified by big dresses and heavy makeup.
