Everstone Daycare v0.12 - Demo Release

Howdy everyone!

This demo includes quite a hefty new scene, with possibly the longest script I’ve written outside of the intro, and a sizable number of CGs to go with it. It’s only the first half of the side story surrounding Nurse Weavile for now, involving his history and relationship with Salandit (with a little bit of Grovyle mixed in.) I also experimented with adding a VN staple of flashing an image in between dialogue without having to make them full-blown CGs, that I might incorporate into future stories from this point on.

There is also the overhaul of the Inventory that I was working on a few months ago. There is a new transition when you open the inventory, to make it feel more like you’re pushing through the contents of a toy box to get to the hidden treasure underneath. I’ve also changed the UI of the inventory to be more practical for both myself and the player.

In addition, items have now been split into 2 categories, regular Items that can be equipped and need to be held to make use of them, and Key Items that are always treated as being on your person. Both Nurse Buizel’s key and schedule have been changed to key items, and all triggers that required them to be held now only check if they’re in your key items.

Lastly, I’ve included the names of everyone who opted-in to being credited in-game to the ‘Credits’ page, accessible from the title screen. If you don’t see your name on the list, please send me a message so we can resolve the issue! If you would like to be added/removed from the list, please follow the link to the Google Forms below under ‘Credits’.

How to access the new scene (Nurse Weavile side story)

The Weavile side story can only be accessed during the ‘Day 2 – Morning 2’ time segment and later for story reasons. Here is an illustrated list of instructions to be able to access it:

• Reach the Day 2 – Morning 1 time segment. This can be done in 2 ways:

• Click on the only available star on the Day 2 row on the Chapter Select page and click “Yes” when prompted to skip the cutscene.

• Or, Play the game normally until you reach the end of the currently available main story (Recruiting Grovyle by helping him with Garchomp.)

• Click on the clock in the middle of the Playroom wall and select ‘Skip to next time segment’ when prompted.

• Click through the dialogue mentioning that you have reached the end of the currently available main story content and unlocking Free Play Mode.
• You should now be on the ‘Day 2 – Morning 2’ time segment. Click on Salandit in the Playroom and select ‘Check in with Salandit’ when prompted to begin the scene and access the Weavile side story.

As always, the punishment scene and related CGs are automatically unlocked and can be viewed in the ‘Replays’ and ‘Images’ galleries respectively, or in the ‘What’s New?’ gallery in the title screen (for those who don’t want to go through the trouble.)

Install Instructions

Due to the increasing size of the project, the file will now be hosted on my itch.io page for the game [password: weavile102]

Please download the .zip file appropriate to your OS, extract the file to your directory of choice, and then run the 'Everstone Daycare.exe' file within the folder to play the game. Enjoy!

Please note for the Mac version that this is not a signed app, so you may encounter an error when first trying to open this program. Please follow the instructions on this support page to work around this.

Disclaimer

Any saves carried over from previous demos might cause issues when playing through them in the current demo. In the event that any flags, variables, and other data were changed in a scene after you had completed it already in your current save file, you might not be able to access the new content. Creating a new game file is advised.

Credits

If you would like your name to be added or removed from the ‘Credits’ page, please follow this link and fill in the appropriate information. Your name will appear in the ‘Credits’ page in the next demo after you have submitted your opt-in entry even if you are no longer subscribed to this Patreon. It will remain until you have officially opted-out via the Google Forms page or via DMing me here or on any of my social media accounts.

If there are any issues regarding the ‘Credits’ such as your name not appearing after having opted-in, misspellings, or similar concerns, please feel free to send me a message and I will try to resolve it ASAP.

Known Issues

• Using Chapter Select to go (Day1-Morning1-NoCutsceneSkip) plays the Day theme momentarily before switching to the proper BGM track

Changelog

• The ‘Credits’ page on the title screen should now list the names of everyone who opted-in via the Google Form or via Patreon DM to be credited in-game. Thank you all for participating!
  • If your name was not listed properly or at all, please send me a DM and I’ll work to resolve the issue as soon as I can!
• Added the first half of the Nurse Weavile side story. Detailed instructions on how to access it are listed above.
  • This story includes 15 new CGs, 3 new sprites for Nurse Weavile, 2 new sprites for Salandit, and 23 additional miscellaneous images.
• The appearance of the inventory has been completely remade.
  • Selecting an item now gives you a short description of the item and a confirmation prompt to equip the item.
  • There is now a transition image whenever you open the toy chest, and you can now swap between the Inventory and Key Items pages.
  • ‘Key Items’ is a new category of item which refers to items that cannot be equipped but are treated as always active. ‘Nurse Buizel’s Key’ and ‘Nurse Buizel’s Work Schedule’ have now been changed to key items.
    • Triggers which previously required either item to be equipped now only check if they have been added to your key items.
• Fixed the clock inside the Playroom. It should now be accessible only during Free Periods and Free Play Mode, and can move you forward into the next time segment (Previously, it was only usable during main story sections, which is the opposite of what should happen.)
• Fixed an issue with the ‘P for Peed your Pants’ song, which plays during embarrassment scenes and before punishment scenes, that caused it to not loop properly.
