CRAFTING
Added 2022-07-11 12:20:43 +0000 UTCNote: Seen the vote and have decided on a crafting process will post wip soon.
SORRY SORRY! I deleted the last post by mistake...ooops. Was trying to add new poll options.
Added new options to the poll...please vote again!
As I have finished up Soap making, I have been organizing my non food/drink crafting WIP folders and have found a ton of unfinished stuff : --
- Metal working
- Gem processor and jewellery ( need to collab with a CAS creator for this)
- clay crafting
- pottery - maybe included with Clay crafting..not decided yet
- Ceramic working
- ice sculpting - loved the ice sculptures in sims 3
- basket weaving/Bamboo crafting to add on to Banana leaf Crafts with bamboo and other stuff.
- toy making --- a lot of this is done but I kind of got distracted ---->I was wavering between making a toy factory (for you know Santa's North pole toy factory ) like the one from sims 3 or one like the wood carving station. had planned this for December/Christmas but now I am not so sure
- Flower press/distillery --- all planning + some important crafting stuff of this is done too ---> wil make dyes, inks, essential oils etc
- comic book writing --- I have made a lot of progress on this one too. I will dig up some of the WIP pics later. basically write comics on the tablet and also get a physical copy. maybe I will add a physical comic book drafting module too
- Child crafts
- Perfumery
- glass blowing
- stone carving and stone painting
- sculpting station
- Looked at making traditional Indian handlooms and textile making and especially making sarees but I dont think i will do that because i kind of hate working with CAS items.
- soft toy/stuffed animal making etc etc etc...you get the idea! Oh god I have so many ideas but so little time!
I want to sart finishing up another crafting station.
Sorry for all the idea dump!!
So I wil be working on the Spirits/hard liquor/alcohol distillery and another non food/drink crafting station. I have been deciding between clay, toy and flower press. Most likely clay working! Have also started planning the flavoured honey (+/- mead) for the canning preservation station. Going forward with Clay working +/- Ceramic +/- stone sculpting station what do you want the crafting process like -
- Hand moldabable like Banana leaf Crafts. This wont be like the game one which is intrusive. This method will just use the game animations.
- Clay working/Sculpting station like the Candle making station. But will take up space. ( Basically like the sims 3 sculpting station.)
- Add on to the candle making station as a new skill. Sort of space saver if you already use the candle making station.
- Make similar to rock exavation
Other ideas - Clay Fire kiln
All in One sculpting station will include clay, stone, ceramics
This is what I have in mind
Also mention whatever ideas comes to your minds when you see this info/idea dump post .

That is a fantastic idea and the type of textile I was thinking of ( Indian textiles) have plenty of decorative stuff!

2022-08-27 15:37:16 +0000 UTCAbout the loom and textile idea, instead of making the finished products CAS items, maybe they could function as decor items?

2022-08-27 15:33:45 +0000 UTCNope! Not at all. I may only use the animation of it!

2022-07-12 12:26:20 +0000 UTCWill this use the clay that already exists in game? Because I hate that thing with a passion. 😆 Sims keep leaving clay blobs all over the world.

2022-07-12 12:24:35 +0000 UTCMaybe later down the line if i decide to do a pottery mod ? I am kind of planning for an all in one sculpting mod with different materials like the one we had in sims 3 - https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Pedestrian_Sculpting_Station. Am also taking inspiration from the Animal Crossing crafting bench which is used to craft a huge variety of things. I may add a hand moldable clay add on for polymer clay too. Pottery is kind of limited for what I want to make with the mod - clay, terracotta, ceramics, stone...maybe metal and ice too. Dont want to limit myself to only vases and plates/bowls. There will be various way to pre treat the materials for crafting a d also for finished products.

2022-07-12 06:06:45 +0000 UTCThere are already a couple of other pottery mods out there. One uses clay blobs made by hand into a variety of items. The other uses the animations of the woodworking station. What I would LOVE to see is an actual pottery wheel (with real pottery wheel animations), a painting station and then a working kiln to fire the pieces made. Of all the modders I know, YOU have the ability to do this.

2022-07-12 05:54:00 +0000 UTCHmm that is a cool idea! I have been seeing book binding videos on youtube recently. Its so relaxing!

2022-07-11 20:01:18 +0000 UTCI love all the ideas! And I got an idea! I really like when my sims get to be an author and write at home all day. But what if we could bind our own books? And we could apply variations of covers?

2022-07-11 18:25:23 +0000 UTCVery excited about metal working, gem processing, pottery and ceramics, weaving, comic book writing, perfume, and glass blowing!! Just playing with kids for the first time in Sims 4 after an unplanned pregnancy. My sims teen misses making paper crafts.

2022-07-11 17:22:55 +0000 UTCComic book writing and gem processing sound awesome! I like the child-friendly ones too like the crafts and stuffed animal making ideas. They’re all great ideas though!

2022-07-11 16:44:23 +0000 UTCI would love to have clay crafting be something that a Sim can do by hand, if only because all of these stations take up space and if I'm trying to keep a small living space.....yeah....

2022-07-11 16:22:45 +0000 UTCThey all sound amazing especially the clay molding and Indian hand loom.

2022-07-11 16:01:32 +0000 UTCI LOVE the Gem processor and jewelry idea! kinda sucks having collected gems and not being able to do much with them, would be nice to turn them into jewlery and be able to gift them to sims for them to wear - can even tie it into wedding stories to give like engagement rings or stuff

2022-07-11 14:17:44 +0000 UTCI agree. If the vote for a single station wins I will most likely make it into a an all in one sculpting station for clay, stone, ceramics etc
MunMun
2022-07-11 13:36:01 +0000 UTCNever apologize for idea dumps! I love seeing how creative minds work. Some of the ideas I like: toy making, gem/jewelry processing, stone carving, ice sculpting and perfumery. As for the poll I prefer to add the clay onto the candle station just for the sake of space. I wish there were more lots in the game...

MunMun
2022-07-11 13:08:53 +0000 UTCI have been DYING for actual clay sculpting in the game; its one of my favorite activities I miss from TS3!! Main reason why I wished they did a whole Arts & Crafts pack instead of just knitting lmao

2022-07-11 13:04:51 +0000 UTCwe can make candles but nobody has a make your own candle holders, it would be so great for my historical sims!!!

2022-07-11 12:50:52 +0000 UTChence i was planning to add the clay crafting and ceramics crafting to my candle making station with new skills. Same table...but with completely new stuff. the flower press will be kind of a small countertop thing
MunMun
2022-07-11 12:45:26 +0000 UTCPerfumery!!!!

2022-07-11 12:44:59 +0000 UTCI love the idea of having multiple uses for the crafting stations, like adding the flower press to the flower arranging station, etc. Simply because my crafty sims run out of room!
Karen A
2022-07-11 12:44:00 +0000 UTCYes and the dyes will be used to make all kinds of paints too like food colouring and artist paints for painting.

2022-07-11 12:35:57 +0000 UTCThat is a good idea!
MunMun
2022-07-11 12:35:11 +0000 UTCThey all sound amazing. I'm really excited about the gem processor and the flower press/distillery. I've been longing for a way to craft the dyes for fabrication and candle-making.
