Nick's life in starfleet ended because he wanted to do a flight maneuver that created a star-shaped burst of light and would make his name go down in history. Well, now his life has actually ended, in a star-shaped burst of light that resulted in a planet getting named after him. So I guess he kinda reached his goal, in a twisted way? Shame.

2024-06-25 16:07:44 +0000 UTCMike McMahan has now specially said that they had enough warning to be able to write a "satisfying conclusion" at the end of S5, but that it wasn't a final ending. So it sounds like they are going the route of making something that will feel like a proper ending if needs be but leaving things open for a potential return if they get saved. Which I think is the right way to go personally.

There’s a few in the big fleet battle at the beginning of “First Contact”, but they’re mainly remembered for being your long range bombardment units from “the “Star Trek: Armada” games. My theory is she’s going to go and take over Orion to get it to join the Federation. Like at the end of DS9 when Dax reads the Klingon Empire to FILTH, she sees the Federation as the future for her people. I mean, the season ends on her “Tendi getting shit done” theme from the DS9 ep, she knows what she’s doing.

2024-06-24 17:27:01 +0000 UTCWe're not privy to the conversation between the admiral and Captain Freeman after he says "about your lieutenant...", so I have a suspicion that Tendi's been given a mission from Starfleet. This suspicion is bolstered by the final scene being Tendi saying to herself with determination: "you've got this", and with the usual end credits music being replaced by the theme that played when Tendi took over the Karemma ship in the DS9 episode in season three.

Sort of like how you did a reaction to the Strange New Worlds episode "Those Old Scientists". Something to fill the void while waiting for Season Five (assuming you finish Prodigy before then). Of course, that is really easy for me to say since I'm just sitting back watching rather filming, reacting and editing. :-)

2024-06-24 15:26:30 +0000 UTCThe TNG episode you remembered with Locarno is 'The First Duty', and is one of two I had in mind when I asked you on YT at the start of this season how much of TNG you'd seen. The other one, which it seems you haven't seen, is 'Lower Decks' (no, really), and covers Sito's time on the Enterprise (which Mariner mentions to Ma'ah in the cave shelter). Shannon Fill, the actress who plays Sito, stopped acting shortly after she appeared on TNG, so getting her back to reprise her role was a bunch of work, according to Mike McMahan.
