Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S2E7 FULL LENGTH Reaction & Review

The use of the phrase 'ad astra per aspera' on the poster is surprising and meaningful to Una; stick a pin in that for later.

I look forward to the day you get to watching SNW. Like Lower Decks, but SNW is my jam.

Well, he DOES have the same last name as that captain of the Equinox from the Voyager 2 parter (that's not particularly fun...)

'Numero Una' got me Now I desperately want O'Connell to appear on SNW as Jack's ancestor :D

Sad to hear you've never seen the Sovereign Class, the Akira Class, the Steamrunner Class (wait for the LD season finale), the ISC Heavy Destroyer, the ISC Battleship, the Dominion Cruiser and Dominion Super Carrier. (My favorite ships). All joking aside, if you've seen the remaster of the original series, something about the shots of the ship seem off. Cause they took the look from the DS9 "Trials and Tribble-ations" ep (A must watch even if you're not that far into DS9 if you're looking for another show to pop up on here) and it doesn't look in line with the ship models in the current to then shows, but it looks too clean and "metalic paint" to match the old series. And they did the spinny things on the nacelles very prominently and it doesn't look right either. As for this episode, what's to say? it's perfect. Even Jerry O'Connell lusting after his real life wife.

Hilarious line :D I really wish there had been some behind the scenes filming going on to have caught Frakes's reaction!

Lower Decks is my 2nd favourite series behind TNG which I grew up with, and since you started watching it (and mentioning having seen this episode in your reactions) I was really hoping we'd see your reaction to it, whether first time or later on when you could recognise more of the references. :-) I still laugh at his "Rikerrrr" line and can't believe he improved it in front of Jonathan Frakes who was directing, must have been sooo much fun to film, and it shows.

Avatar Continuum

I admit while I like Lower Decks some of the hyper active physicality of it bothers me, as since it's canon those actions should be possible with a real person. And thats takes me out of some of the episodes. I know I am very anal..... But it does have heart. I appreciate it more than the humor (generally find humor to be one of the most subjective forms of entertainment). Humor absolutely has its place, its only bothers me when it seems out of place, or out of character. But this episode showed that I would love to see a real live action version of Lower Decks. Certainly the idea of TV films would be awesome. Already having great respect for Jack Quaid. But I am not versed with the full skill set of the rest of the cast. And yes there are great voice actors who aren't great physical actors. And nothing wrong with that. Not to mention not knowing how the voice cast matches even remotely the physicality of the animated cast. Take Quaid, he did a great job matching the physicality of the animated character in his live action performance something he hasn't ever had to do. But seeing his height does seem shocking especially when seeing bookends of his animated form. Thats a quibble, and a minor one. So if the actors can do the physicality of the character thats just a win win.
