Fun note about the actor behind the Admiral, Phil LaMarr. I know someone has commented on how they'd like to see you go through Futurama, which I completely agree with and would be super excited for. Phil is one of the main actors on that show, and as is common with Matt Groening shows, his actors typically do more roles than you can count. And he's really good. But it's gotten to the point where I can instantly recognize him when I hear him on a show or in a game.

I knew that Cetacean Ops had a story! I haven't seen enough of TNG to recognize the reference but having seen enough Trek Culture I figured Cetacean Observations had to come from somewhere :) And I agree giving the Cerritos the win was a great payoff after the Season 1 finale!

I honestly think the visual of the Cerritos completely stripped of it's outer hull and when they blow out the view screen, is one of the most genuinely epic sequences in all of Star Trek, I've watched this episode so many times now and it never fails to just fill me with awe and excitement. I definitely mark that point as when the show really starts to come into its own in a lot of ways, especially with the Cerritos getting to be the one to save the day. Also I don't know if you know where Cetacean Ops comes from but they are mentioned as a background thing a few times in TNG and are shown on the official Enterprise-D blueprints, but obviously are never actually shown and had been kind of a long-running joke/trivia in the fandom, so Lower Decks making them real was very exciting!

That's great about Captain Gomez! Should've known she had a history :) Thank you, my friend!

OK, so there IS a Borg connection. Captain Gomez, used to be Ensign Gomez, a character that showed up on the first Next Generation episode to feature the Borg. She was an Ensign, and super nervous, and she stumbled and spilled her drink on Captain Picard. And that was a new design of ship It looks like if an Excelsior and a Soverign (the best) class love eachother very much, and do the special Mommy Daddy hug, it is what you would get. And season 3's finale is even better. As for poor ol Zephram Cochram, funny you should mention him...
