HEXROLL 2E - beta update #9 - new features, descriptions and plot hooks

Greetings Brave Adventurers,

Beta update #9 is now live and it is dedicated almost entirely to new content.

Commissioned from Alex Gray (www.adgraywriting.com), one of dscryb.com most creative writers, 2E now features many additional realm plot hooks, hex descriptions and hex features.

Alex's descriptions are beautifully written and evocative. Here's a small taste:

Beneath the baking sun parched grasslands stretch in all directions, the horizon obscured in a shimmering haze of heat and false promises.

Music drifts next to a clearing. A warm, honeyed melody inviting you to listen a while. Following the music to its source you find Eryndor, a terrified bard surrounded by sleeping monsters...

A winding trail leads down through the rocky crags beneath towering, snow-capped peaks. The mountains seem to press down upon you as you travel, adding to the claustrophobic feeling the narrow path evokes.

Two adventurers are standing and talking on the edge of the cliffs, at the end of a winding steep trail. Kyranthia and Hesso are arguing about how best to deal with the monsters blocking the path ahead. Kyranthia thinks they should fight it, whilst their companion feels sneaking by would be safer.

It's a privilege to be able to commission art and content from artists and writers - and I'd like to thank you for helping to make this happen. Together, we're making Hexroll grow better and better.

2E is getting closer to existing the beta stage. This means things are stable enough to withstand adding any remaining features without the risk of introducing critical bugs.

It also means that I should start thinking about 3E soon, and consider the next set of technical challenges to tackle on our quest for zero-prep OSR gaming.

But I'm jumping ahead of myself here - we still have at least two additional updates before the release - including the much awaited solo hex-crawling mode.

Bug Fixes

• Dungeon conspectus shows an error when there are no wandering monsters

• A rare error of missing shards and potion components when re-rolling areas

• A few spelling mistakes were corrected in several places
