Or it’ll have to do with levels or skill changes. From what I know, the dings usually refer to any system notifications, though we usually just see them referring to levels. Tyftc.

And gundrun has to hog tie valdamar from spending a thousand years watching the nevermore run cause they got bigger issues with the hidden faction of the totally not a “necromancer god” who is zombie-fying the gods they’ve captured. The king gets stuck in stuff easy for everyone else and complains of unfairness from another unique life form being biased against him. And sylphie just runs around yelling REE! A lot.

I would rather explore a future where jake becomes strong enough to help the snake god and revive his wife and child. Its very possible he goes the other way but i hope not. It makes me kind of depressed to think about seeing their relationship turn to an one of enemies. Infact i think yip of yore was clossr than he thinks to what villys goal is he said he was waiting for jake. But what if he is the reason jake happened. Think about his profession name. Primeval alchemist of 'malefic origins' I think villy planned ALL of this. I think hes been working on a way to bring back his wife and kid for a very long time and that in his divine realm hes been trying to interfere with or use the system itself to get what he wants. But realizing he couldnt maybe he found a way to LATER get what he wants in order to do it. This could be consuming jake like yip or it could be that since HE couldnt do it he found a way to create someone that could. And what better way than with the integration of a new universe. When jake learns all of this they may be forced into a temporary state of conflict but im hoping thats when jake realizes that villy doesnt need to consume him to bring back his family. But that he can just do it. Idk im not saying its not possible but it would just feel really unenjoyable to watch one of my favorite relationships in the series go that way. I do actually agree with your sentiment that jakes friends will all rise to primordial levels. I dont know if i think theyll replace them or not tho. Again this whole take is just very antagonistic and also the last and final reason i dont think this will happen is a comment by zog himself on a podcast interview. He says all the other stories he read that he was inspired by always had calamities and disasters waiting in the wings or some terrible thing to happen. And he said he doesnt want this he wants a chill lighthearted story. And infact states that was one difficulty or challenge when making everything in that he needed to make jake someone who wanted to get stronger but not because there was some grand catastrophe to thwart or something. To me villy turning into the big bad and all the primordials turning into enemies very much falls into that realm. So i just dont see it. Hopefully not anyways. Not that its not a clever and cool concept. Ultimately tho it just feels wrong to havs

Based on what we have seen from the First Sage and how his bloodline operates, the Viper doesn't even experience time and memory remotely similar to anyone else anymore. His "memories" are as real and present to him at all times. He is essentially living his memories constantly, not recalling them. Which means he is constantly experiencing the deaths of his family.

Something with Spirit of Man could be a good theory. Maybe some sort of feedback loop. Where in Jake chooses the profession, this sends a ripple of experience to everyone and feeds back to Jake giving him levels and keeps bouncing back and forth until it dissipates (diminishing returns).

Mostly because I would have like to see the B-Grade evolution be finished, or at least know what choices Jake gets for his class. I am not that upset about it though. My ADHD will have me forget about it soon anyway, and I will be pleasantly reminded when Zog returns and I get that notification on my phone of a new chapter in January.

This happened back when Jake hit C grade too: Villy said when Jake upgraded his profession to Heretic-Chosen that he’d actually reduced the number of Blessings he could hand out to other people.

That aside, I remember in earlier books Jake thinking that there was either one Malefic Legacy skill he had yet to unlock or that they all came together as part of one major skill. I wonder where that theory will land- especially with Sacred Meditation and his Anomalous Soul skill upgrades.

Jake loves the feeling of accomplishment, dedicating his time and energy into something and producing something. Primeval Origin gives him the same thing when he creates a unique being, but it can only be done occasionally. It also doesn't do anything that benefits his class or hunting. He creates something new and then that is it, the creature goes off and does it's own thing. Alchemy gives the dopamine kick when he creates a poison, and then Jake gets another one when he uses that poison successfully in a fight. A "Two birds one stone" kind of thing. That is my opinion anyway.

2025-12-19 16:11:45 +0000 UTCThe chapter said that essentially the two skills were the same. Only difference being what Jake would have to focus on to gain levels in his profession. Neither skill completely removed the ability to do what the other did. The one Jake chose gave more perception, and Jake loves perception. I do think that if the skill didn't provide any or as much perception as Harbinger he would have not chosen it. On the other side of the argument, I think Zog is rather set on Jake being an alchemist. Mostly because it is something Jake chose to do. Jake's Primeval Origin energy was something that his bloodline just bestowed upon him making it something Jake didn't achieve on his own. There is no feeling of accomplishment associated with getting the ability. I am going to assume that Jake will start focusing more on his Jake Juice skill in A-Grade when he starts moving away from riding the coattails of Villy, which he needs to do anyway to reach Godhood. Or maybe not, it could just remain to be something Jake can do. I think one of the requirements is becoming his own person and removing anything that continues to define him as being reliant on Villy. Being a Chosen boosts your ability to gain records and puts you on a fast track to godhood. Essentially being pulled into equalizing the power levels between the god and his chosen. Like how slipstreaming or drafting does in sports like NASCAR and Formula One. The title of Chosen is lost once the person reaches Godhood, it is where (I assume) the god gets the bulk of his investment from his chosen and is then able to choose a new Chosen without any backlash. It would also grant Jake the ability to start handing out blessings and finding a chosen (if he wants one). Jake having a chosen would definitely not fit his personality though, he really isn't much of a leader or advisor.

I assume this is something the system likes, or is the whole goal of having blessings/chosen for non faith based gods. Villy is about to get some nice loot/rewards/ title and Jake’s going to know about it, have system confirmation. Something like due to your steps outside the path of your patron villy has gained 5% perception(don’t think it will be this) and Jake is still a heretic chosen so he’s going to get lvls/rewards of some sort. I hope I would have picked that up in audiobook form. Ignoring the cliff, I think Jake made the right choice not fully distancing his path from the Viper. It’s still an important source of records and a big part of his identity. Better to start the process with this new profession and use the A and S grade evolutions to finish up than to do it all now at B grade. He’s got a long way to go before the peak.

By rewinding the touched target backwards, de-ageing them till they reverse to the point of not even being born and being erased essentially. Which is kinda what Jake has already previously done slightly when fighting the copy of Valdemar in Nevermore. Kinda.

Zog didn't really say he would try to avoid a cliff this Friday but that he may post a chapter on Monday to avoid a massive cliff before breaking. I mean no guarantee that he does maybe this is the cliff that we will wait on but damn it's a hell of a lot better than waiting before the professional selection or something like that. 2. Who said the dings have to be levels? The system dings when messages pop up. And what messages popped up the last time he evolved? Changes to his blessing of course. Not sure what changes with this pick though. I was pretty sure if harbinger was picked Jake may have gained control over the blessing to the point he could have gave it up again or some else like that with the way the profession was worded.

We have so many mysteries and paths to explore yet the collective readership lacks so in imagination that all they seem to notice about these chapters is that they end before every possible thing that could be explored was. I’m thinking back about this whole evolution so far and am trying to imagine how one could even have written them without any cliffhangers? Should Jake have left Minaga’s and then we should have gotten a 1 chapter summary of this entire evolution so far? How could one even have written that and have it be interesting or engaging? What, precisely, ought to have been cut to not have “filler” and what ought to have been changed about the pacing to not have cliffs without tripling or quadrupling the length of each chapter and without leaving details out? Especially when considering that the moments or recapping past points in the text are for book readers who aren’t so fanatical they’re paying for a sneakpeak preview of the next books and who likely had read the last PH months ago and might appreciate a recap? Honestly the comment sections are always the most disappointing part about these chapters. So much imagination from the author, so little from the readers. Zog, happy holidays and thanks for a wonderful year of storytelling. I’ve enjoyed every minute of them, and I for one appreciate the inspiration you give me to dream about what might come next rather than you just spoon feeding me all the answers.
