Rain, Waves, and lots of Explosions

Well, my Patreon's gone up a lot and I think I'll start slipping Starfox back into my work. Here we have a showcase of Thorntail Hollow, Area 3, Dragon Rock, Corneria City, and an Earthwalker Ziggurat. Also on display are Rain and Wave effects that I've worked into Freespace.

I had a thought about this (why I perceived the Arwing flying slowly) and I'm thinking it's not actually about the velocity of the ship, or the size of the environment, but the camera. A lot of flying sims (Ace Combat, etc) handle camera tracking the same way Event Horizon does here: the camera follows at a fixed distance and keeps the ship centered. And it works--it keeps the environment visible in 3rd person view pretty well without the ship getting in the way. Star Fox 64 does something different: https://youtu.be/ZrKgobfH47k Camera to ship movement isn't 1:1 here. There's noticeable drift/lag behind the ship that magnifies on sharper turns, more like the camera's being dragged behind on a string than fixed on a rod. The camera's also really tight on the ship, making the turns feel closer/harder. What's more, when the player uses a boost, the camera quickly backs off and then slowly catches back up. The speed boost is a useful feature, but what's really selling it isn't the speed but *the illusion of speed* and g-forces that accompany the camera movement. It's a visual trick and it's really cool. Anyway, just throwing thoughts out there. :)

Wooooooooow, these graphics are really tight. The environments look amazing, great stuff. It's exciting! The 360 flight controls got that "weeeeeeeee" factor going as you pull turns, although there's not a sense of those quick-and-hard turns and responsive controls typical of Star Fox games. Or it's just that all vehicles look like they're going 5 mph for some reason.

Good to see your support is going back up and I hope you do start slipping starfox back into the mix I've been spreading the word of your projects in hope of getting more attention to them.
