A Massive ol' Update.

So, what have I been doing this past 30 days-ish?

Well, it's been an extremely busy one. I managed to finish the Game of Thrones Episode 5 video right before the special episode of EFAP took place.  The video did wonderfully and I think it's one of my best in terms of production, the animation portions really gave some of the ways I was constructing arguments a bit more edge, or that's what I thought regardless and the visuals were as crisp as I can muster.

So, let's break it down; 

G - This is my library for the episodes, in the previous two rage videos, I used clips from some episodes and mostly YouTube clips. That limited my options for visuals and they were of lower resolution in general. But not this time!

Well, I guess you never quite know where your channel will go.

So, once I completed the rage video for Episode 3 of Season 8 of Game of Thrones, I thought to myself;

"Yeah, it won't get worse than this, anyone could write a finish for this show now, in a nice safe, boring way, all the expected stuff will happen and it's "fine" I won't want to do anymore rage videos on these episodes"

And I actually kicked on with grabbing more and more new reaction shots and clips for the TFA series...there's so much to grab up and i'm looking forward to pu...

An update on updates.

So, the whole reason the updates exist is that you guys know that my time and your money is going toward projects. Prior to the release of TFA Pt.2,  I felt more than ever that I had to update you guys, so that you knew things were on the way. Since, on the surface, a drought appeared on the channel.

This one is gonna be brief because man, I am running low on time for everything. Damn April, making things complicated. 

So, Part 2 went over really well and I am extremely pleased with the response, I imagine that there will be questions about Part 3 and the sad reality is that we could be looking at me starting the editing for it as late as the beginning of May.

I recently finished GDELB episode 2 and I can't wait to see people's reactions to it, this one got a bunch of bum...

So, Part 2 is actually done. the whole thing has been done now for about 3 days, I haven't been able to proof watch it with any peers as it simply does not survive the copyright detection for some reason. 

Unlike the previous part, this one is being claimed for much smaller clips than expected. I have now re-uploaded Part two 14 times and the block is world wide, every time.

So, as you may be able to spot from the image, Part 2 has no more raw audio and everything is in place except the remaining visuals and soundtrack on the second half which is the very time consuming part.

So, Part 1 has been released.....What did yah think folks?

I have had a very large set of responses but the most common being a lot of encouragement. From what I can tell the editing was very appreciated as well as the intro covering so much of what we have been finding issues with in the podcast for Video Essays in general. 

Production wise, I think it's a hit but of course there were comments about structure, since many wanted the intro separated, and I think that is reaso...

Few things to talk about then isn't there?

So, first and foremost. Part 1 is in it's final form. Even though there are a couple more things I would like changed, I need to absolutely move on from it. But yes, it is finalised and it will be released at 4PM GMT Christmas day because that just seems like a fun thing to do. 

I have heard it's not wise to release a video on Christmas but I figure that as long as you guys see it eventually, it's all good.

So, Part 1 is now set definitively, to be released on Christmas day, probably 4PM GMT. As it stands, it could be released right now but I am planning on getting a few more edits done on top of a little bit of art that is missing.

Well, I want to ask you guys something.

So errr, first bit is done!

Part 1 is complete at 2 hours and 38 minutes. What you can see a screenshot of, up there, is one of the earlier drafts that I have shown to a few close friends for proofing. Many edits were made throughout the process and now I am waiting for a few pieces of art before the whole thing will be finished.

Well, this will be a big update.

First of all, thank you all for being patrons, you have no idea how much it helps when I find myself uploading so little. Adsense can be rather cruel but creators like myself will survive through Patreon each month and when the 15 hour monster finally comes. Hopefully Adsense will lend a hand. 

Anyway! 

The past 2 weeks have been about watching some movies, playing some games, doing some streams and of course, a lot of editing.

Raising my standards.

This project is essentially going to be what I consider my best work. That means there's a few things I have committed to that should bump it's quality. 

First is that I have dropped gameplay footage to fill the background, which isn't something that I think is inherently bad to beign with but it is just an opportunity to share a visual and I choose to leave it alone in order to finish the project quicker.

I am already 3 years late with TFA so there's no inherent rush and that means...

So, I have the audio for part 1 recorded and edited and as I progress on the timeline, I find myself making more and more edits, just sculpting away and what is heard and seen. 

The audio comes to about 2 and a half hours, and that's just part 1. The timeline is almost complete for the audio but as you can see above, the video and soundtrack portions are only at about 20 ish minutes.

Quick update this week, The Predator video went well. Extremely positive rating, likely because the film is so horribly put together that there are few defending it as quality film making. We don't even have to argue about it for 9 months since release, wonderful. 

With that however, I am full throttle on the TFA Critique series, audio editing can be a chore as most of the time I will end up with a recording, twice the size of the actual dialogue to account for gaps and reads I wasn't hap...

The Script is complete.

Blue lines are the YouTube/Media references, red lines are visual ideas, bold is emphasis, accent and intonation, there are a bunch of gaps for the differences in parts and gaps for some other ideas that are coming in but it's finished.

Not that you guys would be able to tell considering how ridiculous it looks at that size but man, I am just happy to be at this point.

When watching the earlier work from YMS and RLM they would have little moments from interviewers and I would always be impressed that they must have gone to significant lengths to find information that corroborates with the point they are making.

Another Big Old Update.

So, before I tell you folks about the script; The PC went through a whole bunch of growing pains, me and friends have had to solve everything you could expect, including;

Transferring issues, blue screens, corrupted programs, broken hard drives, repairing/reordering cables, poorly written manuals, fiddly screws, invalid codecs/formats, terrible temperature monitoring software, overclocking that clashes with the very programs this PC was built to use, purchasing or pirating licenses based ...

He is lauded for writing analysis but I found his perspective to be entirely inconsistent. Though it was an extremely civil discussion and I was happy to have spoken to him, very friendly guy.

For this update, let me break down what has happened with the copyright. And some other stuff.

So, my Jurassic World video has gone through a lot of growing pains. 

The initial version would likely have slipped all systems if not for the theme getting caught because of a joke I wanted to make. From there, I contested it and apparently got tagged by someone specifically from universal. 

So the second time around I changed the theme half way through to cut it up into chunks, being the most transformative one could be while keeping the theme understandable and that was stil...

So, what have I done in the last 2 weeks?

Well, I actually had my room re-painted, cleared out a bunch of junk and prepped some space for a half year from now when I possibly purchase an upgrade for my PC and a desperate desk upgrade too. It's all done and clean now so I am pretty comfortable with it.

There's been a bunch of typical life stuff along with it and prep for a European friend of mine to visit in the next month.

Sorry for the late post, been super busy.

So first of all, the wedding was a complete success as much as people had loads of fun, we all had cake, got drunk and two people got married I think ;)

But yes, I spent a huge amount of time with set up and breakdown of the bis and bobs involved, it was awesome. Above, you can see my sister with her husband and now, happily, my brother. 

As soon as I got home I was faced with sleeping or playing God of War as it came out during the wedding and my goodness was that bad timing. ...

Weddings bring delays, darn them.

With the wedding for my sister coming up on the 21st of this month, we have had a large amount of preparation to take care of, I have been involved with a lot of it. 

She's doing this retro themed thing and there's even going to be a section of the main area for video games, had to get a game cube set up with Mario Kart and 4 controllers :D finding it all was hard enough but that's just one piece of the setup.

Well this will be a nice quick update, I delayed the rage video because I wanted to add more editing and it is now pretty much the exact project I want. But we are still set for the 30th release date!
