Quick Update: New vid & New Patreon-only vid.

The next destination for the starship Tantaprise...

First, I'm deep into my video about Facebook. One interesting thing about this particular topic (which is kind of novel for me) is the incredible amount of information and speculation about the company that has been published over the last 20 years. It was quite daunting to wade through this mountain of coverage at first but I quickly got used to it. I had to begin putting together a pretty significant timeline of the company's doings for reference, otherwise, I'd lose track of a lot of interesting detail. Even so, it has been clear sailing compared to my last video on notation, which was incredibly tough to write. I'm pretty much finished with the research phase and already deep in the script writing phase.

For anyone interested, my favourite book about the company was only published a month or so ago. It's called 'Broken Code', a really well written and comprehensive account of the company's mishaps, written by the WSJ journalist who helped Francis Haugen (the famous FB the whistle blower) release thousands of internal documents to the public two years ago. These documents form a major part of ongoing suits against FB in the US and Spain.

Apart from that, over the holidays I decided to take a quick break from the FB video to work on some Patreon-only content. It's a video about my experience working with GIMP and creating a JankMan short out of it. I'm aiming to get it released here before the new year.
