Short Rest: Eldermourne - Ep. 27: Broken Bonds

Comments

Emily's plug for Tyler Thrasher at the end of the ep sparks so much joy. Two of my favorite peeps

Callista M.

I rewound that to make sure that's what he said! Caldwell is so great

Gabriel

😆 love Caldwell dropping kwisatz haderach in the middle of the conversation *wheeze*

Lilybet Gates

I really felt that. I've said those exact words to my parents. They tried what they thought what was their best. But are stuck in their ways.

Vizier

When Zirk says "I always forget" In regards to him dealing with his mom and how she won't listen.

Vizier

I loved to watch tool time when I was a kid so I’m glad that Jake made more jokes about it.

Armando Ocampo

I could hear Emily not get the Star Wars reference 😂

NursingWounds

this is late buuut - Nystul's Magic Aura would have been so good for Bukvar! I love that spell, but such is the Wizard life 😔

Chris P. Bacon

Holy cow....literally have not thought about Stick Stickley in prob at least 20 odd years and yet, memories rage back upon the mention of him. Reasons I love listening to people my age host this shiz. awesome.

over the years there have been many different comments questioning emily’s abilities and successes so many fans are understandably sensitive to questions that seem like they are in that vein. That said, this is a hilarious misinterpretation.

Frances Montell

This is a fantastic response despite being irrelevant to the actual question hahaha

Anthony Abreu

@Joe Somerville I was referring to audio levels.

David Pugh

I haven't listened to the latest episode yet, but Emily is famously (infamously?) a very good D&D player. She would make nearly any player look lower level at times because she is always thinking of the best ways to solve whatever problems the group has.

Joe Somerville

Is it just me or does it seem like Emily's levels are super high compared to everyone else?

David Pugh

Exactly! Its not a touch spell at all!

Brynnah

I had to look this up! this is the wording of find familiar: “Finally, when you cast a spell with a range of touch, your familiar can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell.” so the issue is that Fia has healing word, but since its range is 60 ft and not touch, the wording doesn’t specify that he can cast it for her

Ali K

Healing Word isn’t touch! It’s just within 60ft. But did bookvar cast it? Fia is multiclassed so she’d have access to healing word which is the distance healing spell all bards and druids rely on.

Brynnah

More like Gella Vervaine

1man2hands

Yes, he was the Smith who trained Batilda the Blade.

Ethan

Also, FINALLY caught up. Started on naddpod a couple of months ago and HERE I AM! Now to go back and go through the extras outside the show and short rests. So much to look forward to still!

Bec Robson

Can someone confirm, is Braiden Kinley the vampire, Batildas mentor?

Bec Robson

The cinematic parallels between Bookvar and Olaf from Frozen 2.....

Saru

also: a truly great ep!

katytron

can anyone help me decipher what word they’re saying at 37:20? caldwell says “I love putting on my ? and getting killed” and then jake says “fan artists take notice”, I can’t for the life of me figure it out.

katytron

First Emily mentioned rereading Dune and now Caldwell is hitting those references. Hell yes. Would love to hear them talk about the books just for fun. Great ep, stay gelled

Just finished a "mega march" = 50km in 12 hours Now it's time for Regeneration by listening to the short Rest 😄

I'm sure we all have Stellas and Reapers in our lives where the line just keeps going forward. Nothing satisfies, it's always just this, just that, just give me the world and then more.

Robert McDaniel

Oh now I see Bookvar as Feya and Irena’s son. 😂😂😂

Kyle

part of me wonders about a world where all the blades know about irena, but realistically *i* know that had caine not betrayed them in that moment, it wouldn't automatically negate the possibility of betrayal altogether. also, fia reacting as though bathilda hadn't just given a ~last words sort of speech totally threw me while listening. i thought maybe it was intended to be a genuine fight with good odds, so it's satisfying to know emily whomped murph's plan by having fia immobilise caine. this was simultaneously my favourite and least favourite episode so far for sure!

Little known Tim Allen fact, he was involved in a drug ring, I think he got off by snitching. From what I recall anyway. Here is a link: https://allthatsinteresting.com/tim-allen-cocaine

Mick

agree this ep was tight as a drum, and that’s amazing hearing how many different ways it could have gone! to me it felt really dire the whole time, back and forth between good and bad twists. I’m glad it didn’t go the way anyone predicted. that’s what I like about dnd shows- in tv writing, one thing would have happened, but in a game that’s what makes the stakes feel so high is that nothing good or bad is inevitable just for narrative reasons. re zirk it feels like doing an arcana check for the healing word and then having dire consequences for bukvar getting in the mix made perfect sense to me, though I wouldn’t have complained about murph making a stricter call. idk I already want to relisten to this ep it was really good

Ali K

Caldwell knows the spice must flow

Michael Webster

Was literally just about to comment this! Love those vids so much

Jonnie Kimmins

Lol almost

Anton

Caldwel really likes Dr Sholls... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HHUXQQCJTA&ab_channel=CollegeHumor (Almost all naddpods are in this video, but Jake's awesome is in the first one)

Garga Lenoir

Nah. It was unneeded, he has a whole arc in front of him and the stakes were heightened significantly without it.

Garga Lenoir

🥱🥱🥱 short rest time!!

Yeeter Skeeter

I’m goddamn first

James

Sheeeesh
