Totally agree with that! Even if the mechanic didn't work out 100% like planned, it's always awesome to have new mechanics introduced/ new stuff being tested out. Every time a new mechanic comes around I start making notes on how I can use them in my home games. Can't wait for the big army battle mechanic that Murph had prepped to come up in the future 👀

Fully I loved the battle and the fun thing about DnD is you can play it any way you want so it really doesn’t matter, but hex is for ability checks and not saves if you’re looking to balance the game a little better. It’s really good for when you want to grapple someone and give them disadvantage on strength, or disadvantage on a spellcaster so they have disadvantage on rolling to cast counterspell or dispel magic, or trying to hide from someone and giving them disadvantage on wisdom checks. Again I’m not trying to be critical at all, but Murph had just mentioned that it’s insane that you can just give automatically someone disadvantage on CON saves. Haha and that’s because it is! But again I loved the episode and play however is most fun.

It’s funny Lou mentioned forgetting names and subtly testing your players to see if one of them remembers... I did that with an NPC in one of my campaigns, a cousin to one of my PCs who was a real shithead I sort of modeled after Ren from campaign 1, and when I subtly cued the player to see if they remembered, the name they gave me was Ren. I still don’t know if that was the original name and I just straight up stole the character or if it was a massive coincidence.

Murph's self mandatory thorn really is a perspective. An audio only format can have challenging enemies but sometimes the players and the dm get really into it and might not focus on the show itself. But I think in the end thats really what we the listeners like is hearing the raw excitement and stress from yall. Don't be afraid to narrate Murph! ITS AUDIO ONLY WE DONT BLAME YOU
