What it comes down to is this, the ONLY 4 people who really have a say in how Emily plays the game is the cast. She has always been able to site how and why her characters can do what they do. Murph often does say no, sometime Hell No to some of her ideas AND he has always allowed the guys to adjust and alter characters as needed to make the play more interesting and give more equal advantages all around. Yes Emily (and all the team actually) find interesting work around, they read not just the main books but the alternative presses and articles, even Jake who swears often not to know anything about it. If D&amp;D remained stagnant, with only a few handful of variants available, advanced players and DMs would become really bored and newer players would have nothing to aim for.

I think Emily is just a good player, constructing your characters both min/max and roleplay so it's great! But she does have a different style in terms of getting and advantage (not in a bad way!) That the others don't really. So she seems to outperform the others slightly and makes you question if that's how the mechanic works. Green flame blade I have to look up now because I'm like wow, is it really that good? Just saying I hope that's why people question it and not bc she's the only woman at the table or some bs

I got into D&amp;D in large part thanks to Emily. Fig and Moonshine are two of my all time favorite characters, and her role in Fantasy High inspired me to play my first character as a tiefling. I'm not gonna go on some long rant to defend our Dungeon Docent, but I will just remind everyone that you can't be a gatekeeper to the fucking Queen.

I know I've gotten quizzed on my dnd knowledge when starting out in groups, had the basic function of my class explained to me, been questioned whenever I tried to pull off something crunchy. When I see Emily dealing w this shit I see what I've had to deal w, &amp; what I know other non-white dudes have had to deal w trying to play a fundamentally improvisational game. I saw murph commenting on this on a reddit post recently, &amp; the post itself was quite innocent (" Why did fia get advantage on that roll, it's fine but I'm confused"). It saddens me to think that people are targeting Em, when she is such an amazing player, so mechanically switched on but with such a fun, creative playstyle. I think Em might actually be the most tactical /strategic player in the party, in how she manages her characters, and handles encounters, but you wouldn't know it from how fun she makes it sound. I know you asked for no Em appreciation posts, but I hope it's okay to say that Em IS amazing &amp; deserves a tonne of appreciation

I feel like as the community grows bigger and bigger, this kind of issues are -even though I hate saying this- inevitable. There will always be a 'female roll inspector' minority. *sigh* As far as the episode goes, the only thing I've raised my eyebrows at is the fact that Henry's shadow becomes somewhat funny/talkative during the battle whereas it was portrayed as very spooky, gloomy and indifferent prior to the battle, I was expecting some kind of roleplay to ease the level up and new feat but I realized I'm totally nitpicking and it just didn't make sense to cut off to shadow RP within the tomb and I was fine with it at the end. So, for those questioning every action that Fia did/will do, I'd like to say: learn about the game, do better research, listen to the podcast attentively, think and internalize that decisions made are created in the spur of a moment, don't project your expectation too much, don't be jealous of something you couldn't come up with yourself, and if it didn't suit your taste, you're welcome to turn away without any judgment but don't be a dick about it. Learn to just enjoy amazing people telling amazing stories.

I don't think Fia is actually a vedalkin, Eldermourne has had people mixing for so long that she's a combination of a lot of different groups

Me and my oldest kid both agree the Emily is the best DnD player we know of, comparing from all our own home games and play pod casts we listen to. She uses the rules creatively for good story telling, and for making DMs tremble! Fia is a gangly lady child, but that doesn't divorce her from being effective. For now Emily has some delicious rolls! But! (Huge but) let's never forget she also gave us 3 sequentially rolled natural ones. Granted, Murph cut things in a way that left important details out, but his personal transparency in this post shows repentance lol. I had originally assumed that Fia was half orc just based off of physical description, I think y'all may have mentioned it but not knowing at all what a Vedalkin is lead to my misunderstanding and utter confusion when she started doing charisma stuff with advantage. As a female player who is now a female DM, Emily inspires me so much! I hope to be like her when I grow up. Also I’m 34 years old. This podcast is by far my favorite podcast of all time and I will continue to be nothing but supportive. Everyone brings such unique flavor to the games and I’ve never thought that there was ever a true leader. Emily even said at one point that she likes to keep dnd group oriented and loves to bring players together as a team, which is probably why she’s (incorrectly, imo) perceived as a leader. Keep doing what you’re doing, and thanks for enriching my life with such fun content while I scrub the toilet or take a walk around my apartment complex for the 4th time today!

(Gygax &amp; Arneson, p 4, Dungeons &amp; Dragons Book 1: Men &amp; Magic) Even today, where people can ask Jeremy Crawford for rulings directly, those are only intended to clarify the design intent of the specific rule and to help arbitrate conflicts. The only wrong way to play Dungeons &amp; Dragons is to tell other people that they can't play it in a way that makes them happy. Y'all are doing amazing and I'm loving every second of campaign 2.

D&amp;D is about stepping into the shoes of someone who is likely vastly different than you. That being said, there is still a person playing that character whose personality will be apart of said character. Emily is a clever and immersed player who gets excited with coming up with creative ideas and solutions. I am the "Emily" of my group, so I understand. (I've once created character who was cursed with silence in order to force myself to hold back and leave the ideas and decisions to the other party members)

I find the question of stats funny. They rolled stats, so of course, there are gonna be both good and bad rolls. She is just using her stats effectively, powerful characters mean powerful enemies, which is fun for both sides. Imagine if the final battle of C1 was against a weenie because the 2 crew was weak? Fia should continue to kick ass, and the story will benefit from it. (Also her build is very strong for levels 1-4, expect a power drop at 5-6 where her extra attack is delayed)

My favorite parts of Naddpod are when Brian goes off script which is usually followed by "don't @ me", and whenever Emily, Jake, and Caldwell somehow womp him with their random hijinks! I didn't realize I was supposed to have my books out to fact check every episode...

I think what this comes down to is peoples lack of understanding at just HOW GOOD EMILY IS AT DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS. I remember having some reservations at the start of NADDPOD, but when you include all the stuff on Dimension20, Trinivale, and the countless discussions and livestreams, there is no question ... Emily is good at this game because she loves it so deeply and no amount of words can take that from her. As Patreon members we also get the added benefit of the short rest and the many peek behind the screens that a normal listener wouldn’t be privy too. Campaign 2 is exceeding all of my expectations. My partner, who cares so little about DnD and most of my other hobbies listens along solely because she adores all of Emily's characters. What a fortunate thing it is to be alive and to listen to Not Another DnD Podcast. Emily is great, Caldwell is great, Jake is great, and Murph is great.

So much respect for all of you! Emily really inspired me to play D&amp;D the way I do today, and I’ve never had more fun! Moonshine, Onyx, and Fia all amazing characters, and I’m sorry that the people that can’t handle seeing powerful female characters have fun are making things uncomfortable for Emily. The group dynamic is fine and I think this podcast is superior to any other D&amp;D one...with that said i was confused by Zonk casting fairy fire as a light spell in the crypts and how in the hell he poisoned a ghost. It's your game, your rules. But sometimes it is jarring to hear a thing being done vastly different than the core mechanic without any in-game acknowledgement that it is being done differently. That's my only critique. I've even convinced my wife to listen along when new episodes drop because all of you are really that talented.

I love you Fia and Emily you are my role model! From being a character to DMing, everything you do is bursting with creativity and fun. Some people need to find their own game of DnD to rules lawyer and then see how far that gets them, especially if they don't even know the rules! And speaking as someone who tends to lead the way in her own campaign, some groups just need that push.

Couldn't even begin to list the reasons why people commenting about fia are dumb. All I can say is that I love naddpod. I got my map of bahumia yesterday and almost cried out of joy. In no small part to how Emily and the rest of Naddpod make me want to invest in the story. So heres to hoping fia gets plenty of nat 20's

I just want to talk about Fia being the leader and why people are questioning it when it makes perfect in character sense. Zirk isn't super sure if himself and had already looked to Fia to be a healing mentor for him. Henry? Do we really need to talk about why Henry isn't the party leader? Fia's character is headstrong and ambitious. All the characters have unique personalities that are super fun and Fia is the only character whose personality make in-game sense to be the leader at least right now as Henry and Zirk let go of their insecurities through the campaign. Hell Hardwon was the straight man leader of the party at the start of Bahumia until Jake really found the character and it made sense for Moonshine's arch to take on the role as leader of the boobs as the next in line to be Memaw. Bev was too young and immature and you saw how Moonshine's maternal caring for Bev developed his confidence in the absence of his parents and set up Bev to eventually be able to become the captain of the green knights.

Emily has TONS of experience with DND and the world building that comes with it. Of course it would come naturally to her as they play through this world. It actually seems like Caldwell and Jake are doing a lot more than the beginning of the first campaign because they’re getting more comfortable with it too. I love the creativity and chemistry of the whole gang. Plus, as a female DM it’s awesome to see another chick passionate about the game 😁
