2025-06-19 22:12:44 +0000 UTCRE Jake's description of Ulfgar as the Crick Rot patient zero, the idea that a flight attendant - Gaëtan Dugas - was patient zero for HIV in the US is actually a myth spread due to misunderstandings and misrepresentations. When Dugas caught HIV, several thousand people in the US already had it, and he was actually never listed as 'patient zero' in the study which was claimed as the basis for identifying him as such - he was down as 'patient O', for 'Out of California'. This is obviously totally irrelevant to the podcast, but it's a damaging myth and hopefully a few people see this and learn something new.

I feel like he had a plan to actually make Ilsed the BB of the 9 Hells but came up with Akarot and stuck with that. He's very very good at picking up things from previous episodes and making a plot from them (Balnor being my absolute favorite ❤️)

My brain likes to plant stupid images in my head for things, and no matter what I do, I can't override those images with more accurate or appealing versions. Case in point, I loved the convo about Hardwon's hat, because my stupid lizard brain immediately pictured it as the Cap'n Crunch hat, but extremely small, precariously perched on Hardwon's head, constantly threatening to fall off but always clinging faithfully to his scalp.

2024-08-22 17:35:15 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite things about R. Cane is that the "addiction" mechanic is simply the gameplay benefit it provides. Like, it's just super fun to do a cool lightning smite. Disco Elysium does something similar where it doesn't track addicition to drugs, they simply provide insane benefits so you go out of your way to do them instead of using your money on other things.
