So when my moms dad was close to passing in the hospital, he started shouting out "ma! Ma! Ma!" Before this time he wasn't able to talk bc of a tube, so he'd moan, then I think they took it out closer to passing. But she read somewhere that close before passing the person is likely greeted by their mother to join in the afterlife. As they, the mothers, are the ones to carry them into life and carry them to the next.
