Do you use starting perks?

Hi all.

Quick survey coz I'm not google and can't track what you do in game.

The idea behind starting perks is to change the way you play. Now they don't really change the gameplay that much. There are some good and bad stuff they bring but in the long run it's not that different.


In the future dev builds I might test some stuff and group some perks together to create RPG like classes that would have bigger effect on how to progress through game.

For example some business oriented class where you have better agency models, better work contracts, more money and all that comes with it, but you wont be able pick the girls from the streets, wont be able to shoot with low level girls and so on.

Or some kind of low-life class where you'd thrive with hookers and drugs, but couldn't create a network, get no work contracts, capped reputation and so on.

Basically effects from existing perks merged together to make more restrictive paths.
Maybe it will be fun, maybe it wont, I don't know. We'll have to test it and see.

So, do you pick any perks at the start?

Personally, I'd replace beauty with camera sense then add tags to symbolize the actors beauty. So plain, cute, sexy(etc) for females and handsome, rugged etc for men. The classes would have the following appearance attached. Rough looking criminal type or a cute college dropout (female). Fun roleplaying elements.

I always used just the same two perks - ghengis khan and the std immunity - for game convenience. By beeing asked I think different playstyles through perks could be worth a try. Since it matches some of my kinks maybe all ingame charcaters could instead have a fertility stat like charisma from 0 to 100 - (accessible with cheat slider ;-) so that this doesn't beeing involved at perks at all.

I go for perks every so often but i am usually drawn to the same ones. Maybe there could be a little more balance between them when some penalites aren't so severe. Such as locking you out of agency modelling.

Well since its said it will cause a bug and its better to not use them for smooth gameplay, I don't. I probably use it when its fully implemented though.

Likewise, although I almost always end up going for "Whoremaster" (iirc) for the bonus to hookers. I'd rather build my low level's higher than just buy good ones, personally.

This. I do not like to play same game twice. Before new playthrough I always think about ultimate goal of company and pick perks accordingly.

The Fake

Definitely a fan of perks, often have to deliberate over which to choose but never skip them. Matriarchy is a particularly high-impact perk that I greatly appreciate having as it serves my particular preferences. I've also found Recruiter to be useful because I rarely get good models from agencies and find them to be a bother. Not going to review every perk here but trying to give slightly richer feedback.

If the good effect of the perk are worse than bad side, why I choose it? I like the perk idea and it make each game different, but I think the perk effect need to balance for both side.

So long as its optional, that's imo a great idea with replay value. Maybe some hard cap stats, differing from branch to branch would be a nice addition to go along?
