Dev Log 05-Apr-2023
Added 2023-04-05 15:17:33 +0000 UTCHello!
I'm back from vacation. It's been fine, though I managed to catch another cold(4th, let's see if we can get this to 20 by December).
Sorry I haven't been very active, I only had my phone with me and it's an absolute nightmare using it.
What I did manage to do is make a rough outline for the next release. I wanna make it a bit shorter this time around, it took me three days to chill out after the crunch in the last few weeks before release.
I still have some planning and stuff to do tomorrow, but starting Friday I'll be writing as much as possible so I have a base to progress with the visuals.
I don't think there will be any puzzles for this release as there's something else I wanna try. Don't think anyone's gonna be sad over this.
Anyway, thanks for being here and welcome to new members! Have a wonderful week.

Yeah, that's the difficulty of game design--each person is different. Designing for one type of person will alienate another type. Normally, in games with a clear genre, it's fairly easy, but in any type of hybrid, it's gonna be a difficult balancing act

2023-04-05 21:51:30 +0000 UTCI enjoyed your pigpen puzzle, but to be honest, that was mostly because of some memories it brought back, which was a very nice surprise. If puzzles are too easy, then they don't add of value. If they're hard to crack, they can be fun, but that often means a non-trivial time investment and can feel like something of a break from the story. At worst, puzzles come at very emotional or suspenseful moments and ruin the suspense curve. Finding a good middle ground between easy and very hard is almost impossible, because it depends a lot on the person solving the puzzle. In the end, I almost always prefer reading dialogue to solving puzzles. As you wrote, I won't be sad if there won't be any puzzles in the next update. Get well soon!
