I agree with Mike in the sense that her sound, her voice and her style of singing is really really inspired by other singers (Ariana was a good example)
And you can feel Taylor in some lyrics, but FOR REAL, her personnality is her lyrics, the way she has twisted humor like she says in Espresso, Sabrina is unique in that way, and in the way that she seems to just want to do fun songs, and is aware with the fact that some of her lyrics are just for dancing and having fun, it feels refreshing
It feels like pop stars are rising again (since everything was very rap oriented in term of sound, not that I didn't liked it, it was really cool too), and Sabrina represents that, with Chappell and Olivia for me, and some other newcomers or older artists that are currently very big
And also, if we talk about competition, why do we ask THAT much to pop girls (and yeah GIRLS in particular), to be unique, or have more edge than the one before her ? It's a general question, not only for Sabrina. For me it's ok, to just to do something that already exists, if that's well made.
Thanks for that reaction, it's nice to see different perspectives :) !

Hey, I don't agree with people in the comments about older people not getting this album. You have to be open and young at heart, not like an old fart. I am 53, and I love her album. It is fun and a really great voice.

Chappell's album was pretty sexual and had a different reaction. Sometimes things are vibes based. Stop reading into stuff.

Nbd Mike, it's generational I think. Alot of these songs are 90s and 2000 nostalgic so they hit so hard, they're so fun. But you need to understand the flow to enjoy them. Hey, we got the teenie bopper glasses off you with Taylor eventually, maybe we can get there with Sabrina too. 😋❤

I love your videos. My husband and dad are both of the same mindset as your dad, and I love how you question his thoughts on things like when you said, “a woman can’t write songs about sex?” I do that as well because sometimes they just need to realize how they sound so they can learn and change. I can see his perspective, but see how it is rooted in the past and the world is changing rapidly in some cases and not fast enough in other ways.

Dad asking in the beginning if the kiss was a birthmark is such a parent thing to say haha I feel like that’s exactly something my mom or dad would ask 😂

I love this album, but I get why it’s not for Mike. My dad probably wouldn’t connect with it either lol

I would be interested in having Mike show us some of his favorite female artists, I feel like we have not yet unlocked something that isn't 'sophomoric' or 'teeny bopper'. He doesn't connect with any current female pop artists and that makes sense because he is a different generation and a man, but I wanna see him really get into liking ANY female artist, I would hope he doesn't think that they are all making the same stuff.

I wasn't crazy about Emails I Can't Send but this album really blew me away - I've had it on repeat since it came out. I see where your dad is coming from with her sounding like other artists (Good Graces sounds like something off of my fav Ariana album, Dangerous Woman), but Sabrina really took all these good elements, combined it with her clever/funny lyrics, and made what I consider pop perfection. Juno is amazing!! I'm excited to see where her music goes from here. Thanks for listening!

Sabrina has branded herself as a very unserious, 'fun', artist for some time now and it's just not for everyone. That being said, as a *long time* fan of hers I found this album underwhelming with only a few standouts (bed chem, juno, don't smile & lie to girls). I felt the songs could've been so much more dynamic throughout and found myself getting bored way too often. In my opinion this should've been an EP for her to transition between albums, with less but longer and more complex songs. once again - I think it would be well worth it for you to check out her older stuff like EVOLution and the singular albums, where the lyrics and production are more interesting, and she leans into r&b influence. her vocals are also insane on some of the tracks !! she shows them off a LOT more.

I feel like Dad just doesn’t understand Sabrina as an artist. She is so unserious and silly while still being genuine.

"how old is she?"
"why?"
"idk"
"yea." 🤣🤣 thank you
Anyway, I agree with what everybody else is saying. I just don't think your dad is able to connect with the topics. And Sabrina's known for being very cheeky and humorous, and she's just integrating that more into the music this time around. I think a big factor is the need to constantly compare artist to other artists. like for example when you guys listened to Chappell he liked all those and didn't say anything about the cheeky humor and the sex talk but for some reason he doesn't like when sabrina does it. as much as i love taylor. not everyone needs to be on a her level with deep lyrical meanings and heavy songs. sometimes it's nice to just have fun and light weight songs! i think he has his mind made up on sab. anyways thanks for reacting 😊this album makes me so hype for her tour 🩵🩵

I wonder if he'd like her earlier work. This is actually her sixth album and there was a significant switch with her last one, emails i cant send. If you were to check it out the two "Singular Act I" and "Singular Act II" are only like 30 minutes each if that, very short. More RnB almost.

I definitely understand what dad is saying in not knowing what you're going to get from a sabrina song aside from a great pop hit. I think what makes her stand out is her cheeky/witty lyrics and that every song is a catchy pop hit. Most songs aren't deep, but thats okay, it's just fun listening to her music! She's def for the girlies and won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Shout out to your dad for listening to sabrina again even though her other album wasn’t necessarily his fav. We are extremely grateful!
