Some of my favorite male/female duos are "Oh Wonder" and "Us the Duo"

Hayden Smith

Hand hearts back!!

Meagan Muller

The wedding really did put a wrench in our Eras Tour Movie watching BUT as of today we know we can watch it at home soon!!

Meagan Muller

You guys need to listed to her Debut album to get your country-ish fix

Meagan Muller

Adding onto my Ronan notes that yea you totally should have read after - oops, my bad lol: Taylor rarely performs it for obvious reasons but when Ronan's mom attended her show she made sure to ask her permission to play it so it didn't shock her and she could be prepared to hear it. His mom of course said yes, and it's just so cool that still to this day Taylor has a special bond with the family.

Meagan Muller

Acoustic State of Grace (and the original) is an all-time favorite. I was praying for it as one of my surprise songs!

Meagan Muller

LOL at me interrupting with texts and you realizing we'll see this now!! Watch it mister!

Meagan Muller

Glad you guys got good use out of the tuxes LOL

Meagan Muller

Better Man was one of my surprise songs! I am a big country fan and already loved the song so when the Vault opened and I realized it was Taylor's it was extra exciting and so cool to hear it live

Meagan Muller

I love that you called out Travis at the beginning of Better Man. We're all thinking the same thing and I think that's why a lot of people are rooting for them. Also, the country group Little Big Town performed that song originally after Taylor wrote it and it won a Grammy.

Cassandra Schultz

your dad saying "wait Ive heard this" after you explaining the 10 minute version had me cackling

Kailey Sundstrom

Nothing New hits different as a woman for real

Alyssa 🫶🏻

jump out from youtube after watching part 1, loved seeing you enjoy the album, it's a long album i couldnt agree more, this album has so much meant for me, i fell in love with her since i saw "I knew you were trouble brit awards" you should add that performance to the list, if you want to hear a love song plz check "lover" and "reputation", and if you wanna hear taylor sing full country song just listen to "Taylor swift" her debut album and "Fearless", i dont think you guys have react to fearless before, other than that I enjoyed your reaction, glad that i had something to watch before 1989 tv comes out

Rendy Abi

love the suits lol proper music critics!! 😂

haley n

I don't see the "love affair" being about a real affair. I think she just uses the term to express how fast and intense it all was. We'll never know the whole story and that's why I love her writing. She gives us glimpses but never tells everything and that's how she still keeps a somewhat private life even being the biggest pop star right now.

Marina Vasconcellos

Oh okay you’re right. I’ll wait for the concert film for patreon that’s gonna be so fun. I genuinely am eager to see a full performance of hers

Michael

Okay great, can’t wait to hear those, thanks so much for the kind words 🫶🏻

You should definitely watch Miss Americana before listening to the next album. You’re listening to a lot of her breakup songs through the false media narrative. These aren’t about dozens of guys, they’re largely about the same handful of exes over 10+ years. She just processes her grief through writing so she retells the same emotions many ways. E.g. The Moment I Knew, 22, All Too Well are all referencing her ex not showing to her 21st & then going all out for her 22nd w/ friends because her big 21st was ruined.

M

had to join patreon for you guys, couldn't wait for part 2!! one detail i like about this album is how she says the word red in a lot of different songs, i don't know if you noticed that. and i think most songs are about the same person, so that's why he is always portraited as a bad guy. also, i always cry listening to ronan, ALWAYS. such a heartbreaking song. i'm so glad you enjoyed the album, i never get tired of it even with the total of 30 songs. and if you want to listen to her singing about the good parts of a relationship, listen to reputation and lover! now i can't wait for the 1989 reaction, is it going to be here on patreon first?

Emilie

I’ve never taken the time to listen to Taylor’s version of this album, thought it’d be fun to experience it with you guys. I feel like dad and I both came to discover there comes a time when there is in fact a thing as too much Taylor. I absolutely adore Taylor, but this album is too much for a single sitting. Dad and I seemed to check out around the same time. A majority of the vault tracks were rightfully placed in the vault.

Wizzy McNasty

If I remember correctly, "Forever Winter" is about a friend of hers who committed suicide. For "All Too Well", she talks about a relationship she had with a singer who was literally 10 years older. And how the relationship was unhealthy and had a negative impact on her subsequent relationships and even on her vision of men. She talks about this with more distance on the album "Midnight" with "Would've, Could've, Should've". The album "Lover" offers another vision of Taylor, literally an album dedicated to love, if you ever want more "joy". Kiss form France !

Miscrety Low

Most of us were probably crying along with you for Ronan 😭 i have to skip that everytime it comes on because i literally can’t hear it without just sobbing. It’s just such a devastating story

Åshild

Does anyone actually put tswift on shuffle? Cause I could never. The emotional whiplash from each era is too much. Also I love the line in the 10 min version where she says “He’s gonna say it’s love.. you never called it what it was. Til we were dead and gone and buried” so basically he never admitted he was in love with her until they were broken up for 3 months, hence dead and gone.. not literally. But that’s when he finally “check(ed) the pulse and come back swearing it’s the same.. after 3 months in the grave..” like ‘oh we can go right back to the way we were before i disappeared!’ So then he “wonders where it (the love) went to, as he held my lifeless frame”. I also think the more you dive into the lyrics of the 10 min version, the more you see how many songs are connected to that story. -22 -The moment I knew -Better Man -We are never ever getting back together I’m sure there are others. This album is really harsh on mostly one specific relationship. Awesome reaction, love you guys. Can’t wait for you to get into her 1989, Reputation era

Casey Kendrick

Love to see this! Nothing better than seeing people discover Taylor Swift discography for the first time. State of Grace was our surprise song on the tour and it was a 10/10. Can't wait to see your 1989 reaction and if you're up to it you should check out the Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix :) Since we have to yet to get Rep TV. We'll be rooting for ya'll to get through her entire discography. It's going to be so good 🤭

Caroline Farley

Please don’t watch the movie! Wait and watch when it streams with us and react 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 State of Grace (acoustic) - Taylor has said all her songs are written in a way that they can be stripped down to a single instrument, either guitar or piano on purpose so that she can play them for us in the state in which they were written. Better Man was originally released by the Band Perry and Babe was released by Sugarland, Taylor wrote them but shopped them out and let those bands record them instead of releasing them herself Taylor writes every one of her songs. She has not recorded anything she hasn’t written, some have co-writers but she has written every single on of her songs. Ronan has only been performed live 2 or 3 times. The first was at a children’s cancer benefit concert. The other 1 or 2 times were at concerts when Taylor knew Maya was going to be in the audience and each time she asked Maya first if she would be alright if Taylor performed it that night. The vault tracks were not recorded back then or if they were those recordings weren’t used as they belong to the old record label. The Taylor’s Version is totally new recordings, even the vault songs Forever winter is about a very close high school friend who ended up unaliving himself but Taylor would spend a lot of nights on the phone with him when he was struggling. She repeats at the end of All Too Well 10 min because she was gaslight and told it was never that bad, the relationship wasn’t that important/deep. So she repeats “I was there” to reiterate that what she believes happened really happened. I’m excited for you to listen to 1989, it won’t AOTY at the Grammy’s…..but I am very much anticipating the day you get to Reputation🐍 and Midnights!!!!

Caitlin Green

I loved the reaction! For a little more context, “Nothing New” with Phoebe Bridgers is a songs about Taylor feeling like the music industry and the general public would get “tired of her”. It explores the problem of how female pop stars are usually successful for a few years at the beginning of their career and then people start to turn on them and look for younger, “newer” singers to catapult into fame. At this point, Taylor was on her 4th album and felt that people wouldn’t tolerate her being successful for much longer

Carlos Fernandez

Great reaction. But I don't think you got the full meaning of Forever Winter. It is about her friend who committed suicide.

Richard

Literally just joined your Patreon because I knew I couldn’t wait until next week for part 2! Can’t wait to see what you think about it!

Caitlin Green

I believe the 3 months in the grave is a metaphor - she mentions in multiple songs about an ex needing space (We Are Never Getting Back Together, I Bet you Think About Me), and allegedly they took a break of about three months then Jake reached out to rekindle things. I have interpreted this section as the relationship and the love was well and truly gone after 3 months break/broken up, represented by the lifelessness when he held her trying to find a pulse (signs of life they could still work it out). This is just a theory, but one quite a lot of people believe might be a valid interpretation :)

Philippa

Oh my god the dancing to Message in a Bottle had me dyinggg. Also Mike’s realization that you’re family is gonna see him talking about them in these un-cut videos lmaooo

Abby Littleton

Oh also! You’re right that she’s always thinking of things! She keeps her phone right by her and often wakes up and records lyrics or melodies in voice notes in the middle of the night! Once you’ve heard rep and lover you might want to check out Miss Americana on Netflix to get an idea of her (sometimes chaotic) songwriting process! Her mind must be a really interesting place

Emma Brilleslyper

Congrats to your sister/daughter on her wedding!! How exciting!! Ed Sheeran will be back! Never fear! He’s got a feature on Reputation and she has a feature on one of his albums (the song is called The Joker and The Queen) and it’s beautiful. They’re very very good friends! Now to transition to all too well…. Taylor LOVES to use driving/car crashes as a metaphor for a relationship and the death of a relationship. It’s a reoccurring thing with her (getaway car, style, all too well, etc). In this case I think that car crash feeling you were getting is a moment (illustrated well in the short film) where she realizes this is going to “crash and burn” so to say. Maybe it happened in a car maybe not! All too well is also a masterclass in referencing. You came to it at the end and y’all aren’t intimately familiar with Red the way many of us who grew up with it/her are, but it references so many songs that you heard in Red! A lot of red (though not all of it) is about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, which I’m sure you’ve been told. All the way back to the song red where she says love is burning red (which…keep that in mind if you ever get to Lover). But in All Too Well 10 she references several other songs from the album. When she says “he (her dad) watched me watch the front door all night willing you to come, and he said it’s supposed to be fun, turning 21” that’s a reference to The Moment I Knew (the cello song) where Jake didn’t come to her birthday party. When she says “did the twin flame bruise paint you blue?” it’s a reference to state of grace where she says “twin fire signs, four blue eyes” (they both have blue eyes). There are other callbacks and tie ins as well! Ironically her line about getting older while his lovers stay her age, even though he broke up with her ostensibly BECAUSE of her age (you said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine) has held pretty true. He, like many men in Hollywood, is pretty notorious for only dating women in their early 20s. Even though he’s in his 40s at this point (and was about 10 years older than Taylor when he dated her). I also agree with y’all about the back half of this album. This was really Taylor’s first attempt to jump into pop and while there were a lot of hits there were also some misses, some songs that just felt unfinished or like they could be done differently. She goes full pop for 1989 and I think she is FAR more consistent at combining the pop melodies and production with that classic Taylor storytelling we all love in 1989 than she was here, particularly through the vault. Some of these pop songs were a huge risk for her (as a country artist) at the time so I think she was kind of easing into it. 1989 TV obviously comes out next week and while I’m sure y’all know many of the songs on it (who could escape shake it off!) there are some deep cuts I think you’ll enjoy (this love in particular comes to mind, and you are in love). Jake really did a number on her and a lot of the songs on Red reflect that-she’s much more understanding of the people she sings about in 1989! Don’t worry, you’ll get some really lovely songs about being happy in love and some less man hating ones! I think the song You Are In Love off 1989 explains a lot about Taylor and maybe why it’s been so hard for her to find someone. She was with Joe for 6 years (meets him before reputation) so a lot of songs about being in love, and also being part of the problem in why her relationships don’t work, are coming your way! Of course some of that probably has to do with her 1) getting older and 2) dating people her own age and not men who are 10+ years older than her (as we saw in speak now and red) I hope you both enjoyed your family weekend and got to celebrate everyone! Welcome to Patreon! Excited to be here and follow along. P.S If you’re taking non Taylor suggestions….Hozier’s latest is incredible, and also Noah Kahan’s Stick Season (but you have to do the extended edition). Both of them are in the same storytelling songwriter world as Taylor with VERY different genres and instrumentals choices from her!

Emma Brilleslyper

I know the breakup songs were heavy on this album haha. She definitely went off after her breakup with Jake. I promise there’s more love songs on albums like Lover and Reputation!! 1989 as well, which you guys will be hearing soon. Love all of your videos, always incredibly genuine reactions, keep doing what you’re doing!!!

Abby Littleton

Loved your reaction! Just have to say that you mentioned she sounded younger on the vault tracks. The vault tracks were written when she was younger but never released. However they were re-recorded, these are not the original recordings, so that is older Taylor you’re hearing. Although I think she edits the way she sings on certain songs to make it sound younger.

Ali Hannig

if you guys ever start looking into reacting to performances of taylor swift you should definitely check out when she sang better man live at the bluebird cafe - she provides a lot of context for the song and how she gave it to little big town

A2313

Forever Winter it's actually about a friend of hers that k*lled himself, it's very sad.

Ana Luiza Sant'anna

Sorry I’m gonna keep leaving comments 😂 she did not have the popcorn buckets or cups on the tour! I went on opening night and then back to back nights in Denver 😅

Mary M

“Did you listen to anything I said in the last 5 minutes” made me laugh so hard 😂 She played Come Back Be Here on piano as a surprise song when I went to Eras Tour and it was SO good. I saw someone else mention her singing Ronan on tour but she actually hasn’t sang it for Eras Tour. We really thought it might be a surprise song the night I went on May 12th bc it would’ve been Ronan’s 18th birthday that day and his mother was actually in attendance, but I don’t know that Taylor (or the crowd) would’ve survived her singing it live. I packed a ton of tissues in my purse just in case and was so glad I didn’t have to use them lol.

Ashton Reynolds

Absolutely loved y'all's reaction! I personally think that one of the reasons that Swifties are so understanding is because Taylor gets so much hate from people that don't even make an attempt to really take in her music. It's one thing to respectfully take in one of her songs and decide it's not for you vs just downright rejecting her music because of how the media or certain people like to portray her. So if you're open-minded and genuinely asking questions because you're wanting to understand her as an artist, you're ok in a Swifties book lol Ronan is such a heartbreaking song. Taylor's mom has beat cancer twice so that song is extremely difficult for her to perform. I heard that she only performed Ronan once during the Eras Tour because Maya and her family were in attendance.

Diana

You guys need to listen to Lover next if your dad wants love songs!!! I love your reactions to her music. It’s so refreshing to see men appreciate her artistry ❤️ just found out today you had a Patreon and ran to subscribe!

Mary M

I’m definitely going back to forever winter. That context completely changes the song. And I can totally see that with what you said about her friends. Creatives at her level just cannot turn that switch off ever it’s a part of them. It’s a gift.

Michael

I love that you all appreciated this album! I am a somewhat new Swiftie as well and this album is one of my favorites so far. You’re absolutely right that it was a turning point in her career. It marked a big change in her sound, and it’s all together impressive, just in general, but especially considering that she was 22 when she wrote these songs (I think?). It’s funny because the main criticism that she got for this album was that it was not sonically cohesive, which seems to be why it didn’t win many awards, but that seems to be what you folks liked about it the most! A few notes: Most people think Forever Winter is about mental health, not about a break up. Taylor says it would be forever winter if you go, meaning if you died by suicide, I would really miss you. A lot of people think it’s actually written about her younger brother. So it might be worth taking another listen to the song with that in mind. I don’t think the song is musically her best, but it does hit differently when you realize that she’s talking about trying to be a good friend to someone fighting some serious inner demons. You two were completely spot on and guessing that her brain is constantly thinking about songs and creating things. I’ve heard a couple of clips of her where she talks about how her friends must get sick of her, because sometimes in the middle of having a conversation, she goes glassy eyed, and they realize she’s making up a song in her head, and then she has to go off into the corner and pull out either her notes app, or a voice memo, and start writing down words or singing melodies into her phone. Your interpretation of a car accident in all too well is very interesting. I’m actually not sure if she has explained this or not. Hopefully someone will clue us both in, but I always just interpreted it as her talking about their relationship and how he’s reaching out to her and holding her lifeless body because she’s just been so exhausted by everything that she’s gone through (you never called it love until it was too late… checked the pulse and come back swearing it’s the same, after three months in the grave… meaning you’re finally saying you love me after we’ve been dead for a few months. She’s so weary and exhausted from it all, hence the lifeless body)

Bella B

He really did 😂

Julia Maia

After seeing the short film damn, he kind of sucked 😂

Michael

😂😂😂

Michael

Damn it Jake Gyllenhaal I like his movies too smh

Michael

Love the reaction!! Just wanted to comment about the amount of breakup songs that say how the guy was trash… Many songs are written for the same person. In this album, for example, “All Too Well”, “I Almost Do”, “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, “I Bet You Think About Me”, “The Moment I knew” and “State of Grace” are all about Jake Gyllenhaal. In “Begin Again”, the “he” she talks about is also Jake.

Julia Maia

"Holly shit all the stuff I said about mom" is the greatest line ever!

Eduardo Karsburg

So in All Too Well she's talking about a lifeless frame related to how he didn't call it love until the relationship was dead and gone. And calling it an affair isn't really the traditional sense of what we think of as an affair. It was just a very brief relationship, as she eludes to in the title track Red. "Like driving a Mazzerati down a dead end street" If you break down the lyrics it starts to make more sense. Also this relationship was with Jake Gyllenhaal when she was 20 and he was 29.

Cassandra Schultz

Oh okay great he’ll be happy to know that 😂 and yeah Ronan was a tough one. That and never grow up I don’t see myself coming back to often cause of the feels 🥲

Michael

Ronan is one of those songs that I go, oh that’s beautiful and I’m never listening to it again. I only break that rule for reactions. I think most of the songs are basically about one bad relationship that burned red, was passionate and exciting but turned bad. That’s why the album is named for the song about this relationship. Sorry to your dad!!! It’s not all men acting this way but definitely the man in question was lol. And she has an album just called, “Lover” for when she was loved up in her 6 year relationship so there’s less slander on there (probably) but I live for the raw emotion of it all.
