Status-Seeker (Alpha 0.3)

Short humanoid creatures with appearances akin to short, slender elves with lavender skin, Status-Seekers are an aristocratic species that cares about nothing more than keeping up noble appearances and ruling over other Status Seekers. Often found within small, remote kingdoms located within the ruins of abandoned towns and settlements.

Status-Seekers possess notably surface-level ambitions, looking for superficial wealth and status for no reason other than for the status itself. These creatures have no desire to engage in combat, conquer others, or spend their wealth. They simply wish to amass their riches, wear ornate clothing, and mimic what they believe to be the heart and core of high societies of countries like Centrilia. While Status-Seekers will try to undermine and usurp others of their kind, their societies are ruled by those with the most "status," with status simply being determined by which status Seeker has the largest horde and the most nobles in their courts. These creatures spend the majority of their time flaunting their wealth and status, throwing vapid galas for the solitary purpose of bringing out jealousy in others of their kind.

While they're not particular strong or intelligent, those without the foresight to deny  a Status Seeker's deals and offerings of wealth will become afflicted the Damsel's Curse; a transformative affliction created as the result of Status-Seekers aiming to bolster the number of opulent noblewomen in their courts. Once a Status-Seeker has transformed a creature, while it has no control over one's mind or actions, they'll often attempt to bribe their victims as an attempt to convince them to serve as a member of their "high house." While they view themselves as the pinnacle of high society, in reality most nations view Status-Seekers as less of a threat and more of an annoyance.

Though in some cases, this curse can lead to an afflicted creature growing greedy or vain, it often leaves the target's mind completely unaffected. In some cases, particularly strong or intelligent adventurers have been able to use this curse to turn the tables on the Status-Seekers, using their newfound charming capabilities to overthrow the very creature that transformed them.
