Progress Report

Greetings, everyone!

It's been a little while since the last progress report. If you're not at the $5 level or above, you might not know why, and for that, I apologize. A few weeks ago, I finally released version 2.0 of Supermodel Snapshot, which was quickly followed up by a hotfix and then, a little while later, by the current version 2.1. My modus operandi is to post a progress report precisely one week after the latest release unless that would be very close to another release. In this case, everything got too squashed together.

But no more. It's been a week since version 2.1 of Snapshot, and I now feel reasonably confident when saying that Supermodel Snapshot is done. It's not perfect, and there are unresolved bugs in it still, but that's okay. Snapshot's purpose was to be a testing ground for the collectible card game that is to be a part of the full Supermodel, and it has done that task admirably.

And speaking of Supermodel, with Snapshot out of the way, my focus will now be entirely on Supermodel: Defenders of Desire, which I know is what many of you are waiting for. This is the complete visual novel experience with Snapshot as an optional (but essential) part. I want the first release of Supermodel to be chunky and satisfying, so there's a lot of work to do. Even so, the card game has already been dealt with through Snapshot and can be plugged in with minimal effort. At the same time, I have also prepared almost all of the 3D models for the central characters and composed music you have yet to hear.

These past few days, I've been perfecting one particular character's 3D model, in fact. This is someone I have not previewed or talked about yet, and I am unlikely to share many details about her until the release of the first version of Supermodel. On the other hand, she has an important role to play in that version, and you will see her as early as the game's opening sequence. I had a model for her prepared back when I created all the other characters, but I was never entirely happy with it. It didn't look the part, so I went back to it and fixed it up, her hair and outfit in particular. She's looking much better now and should serve her role in the story more appropriately.

Apart from that, I have done some writing for the game's prologue. Getting back into writing will be a significant change of pace for me, for I haven't done any fiction writing since I wrapped up Long Live the Princess. It feels good to get back in business, especially since the type of storytelling and how I tell it is very, very different from what you ever saw in that game. I'll be sure to preview parts of the writing in the coming months.

As before, the plan is to get the first version out this year. That is a wide window, but not so wide that it isn't giving me sweaty palms. The workload ahead of me is immense, and I must approach it methodically and effectively. And as always, I will keep you all informed through these progress reports.

So, I guess it's time to wish you all a warm welcome to the development of Supermodel: Defenders of Desire. This will be one hell of a journey, and I hope you're willing to take it with me.

Until next time!

Comments

Just remember that Snapshot is a "prototype" of sorts for Supermodel and that, despite its completion, is not technically a complete game. Think of it as a fancy demo.

congratulations on the completion of _Supermodel Snapshot_. looking forwards to playing it and the rest.
