Possible Hiatus.
Added 2019-07-14 18:02:09 +0000 UTCSo as some of you know, I've run into some issues with the latest volume, mostly being of plot and moving the focus away from Rain and co. I don't want it to last long, but atm it's looking like it'll take at least 5 chapters to pull ff, and even then, I worry it's going to feel... asspulled. I won't go into too many details about it, but suffice it to say, my original plot plan fell through, and my new plan feels cheap and terrible. I'd tried fixing this without taking a break, but thus far, I've already fallen one chapter behind and am even considering scrapping this arc altogether, though I have no idea what I'll do to fix it.
So, this is sort of a head's up. With volume 26 complete, I'll be taking a "break" to catch up to releases for readers who should be 5 chapters ahead, which means the earliest Chapter 482 will be be posted is thursday the 18th on Patreon, and sunday the 21st on RRL. I say earliest because I might take a longer break to sort out my plot plan. Tuesday marks the end of volume 26 on RRL, so I have until then to make my decision.
So yea. Sorry about this, but I'm no good at writing without a plan, and i'm not entirely pleased with how vol 27 is going atm. Will let you all know as soon as I make a decision, so yea.
Sorry, and thanks for understanding.

That's a horrible example. Robert Jordan died before he could finish The Wheel of Time and we got a subpar ending as a result. That said I'm not saying not to do what's required to tell the best story you can Ruff. Do what you gotta. The quality is worth a brief break every now and then.

2019-07-15 14:46:02 +0000 UTCAll my thoughts are focused on Jorani recruiting the monks to the mother's militia and saving the day again just like he did in Sanshu, which faction? all of them, he isn't the strongest, nor the brightest, but he is the hero with the purest heart, the man who saved Sinuji when an army of millions of trained defiled were about to swallow the tiny northern fortress, heading a group of celibate monks and concerned nobles from the east who grew tired of plots and twisted politics that destroy young talents to satiate old pallets and just want to save the empire, for the mother and the people. An exerpt written by the rising star of poetry the young patriarch Han Boshui

2019-07-15 02:39:47 +0000 UTCRather you take time to plan it out than write a subpar story, take your time. We're almost 500 chapters in Ruff, you already got us addicted; don't worry about a planning-related hiatus.

2019-07-15 02:18:16 +0000 UTCYea i don't like retconning RRL releases, though some stuff i had no choice but to, like the iron banner schtick and the magical tracking devices. Originally, they were my runic magic system, but I decided that parts of it didn't work too well and nixed them, but i try not to do stuff like that.
2019-07-15 00:12:12 +0000 UTCThe rules are different for the powerful, and like it or not, Rain is still small time. He's valued for potential, but even the greatest potential means nothing if not given time to grow. Plus, with his shattered Core, even his potential is gone now, so politically, Jixing would suffer little to no consequence for killing Rain.
2019-07-15 00:10:28 +0000 UTCYep, like they said. Your story is amazing, and if you dont feel like the next few chapters will be to your satisfaction, im sure nobody will mind you working through it.

2019-07-14 23:12:06 +0000 UTCTake your time, we can only enjoy reading your story if you enjoy writing it, nobody is going to complain about getting a better story

2019-07-14 20:03:08 +0000 UTCAn interesting exercise I had introduced to me by Ray Ryan (of Cambridge Press) was looking for “plot anchors rather than holes, and holes that could’ve turned to anchors.” The idea is one can best fill plot holes only after establishing where a narrative was anchored. With that in mind I was going through 26 again on RRL. I assume once something hits there it’s considered sacrosanct and shouldn’t be touched unless all other options are exhausted?
2019-07-14 19:35:26 +0000 UTCtake all the time you need, your being a great story and large world. It makes sense that at points you will need a break to gather your thoughts and think of a way to continue the the story that does it justice.

2019-07-14 19:05:30 +0000 UTCThanks for the heads-up. And take as long as you need to recuperate and get back on track. I would hate to see you crash and burn (mentally/physically)

2019-07-14 18:31:25 +0000 UTCMight I give you a simple tip? Strongly define in your head how empire and politics work. We have seen people with bad martial training having power and respect. We have seen people swinging their big dicks around and doing whatever they want. But not Rain. He's basically a record breaker (multiple times), hero and savior, stupidly good merchant, stupidly advanced in his martial path, with basically a personal army of OG Big Dicks, kinda part of the empire cream (scion), son of the future defender of the wall, and EVERYONE still gives him shit. Like the little bastard that wants his wife. He declared that he is going to kill Rain. Unless he is the emperor, that is a DEATH sentence. Just have him and all his family executed, or change how the empire works.

2019-07-14 18:27:05 +0000 UTCEither my definition of a hiatus is different than yours or I'd didn't quite get what you said. Hiatus to me means you aren't working on it at all. What you said sounds like you are going to work on important story stuff but simply nothing that leads to quick chapter output. As far as I'm concerned take all the time you need to get the plot straight. I'll take quality over quantity any day.
