Something I loved in Supreme Commander was their emphasis on queueing up things: you could queue up infinite units for a building (it didn't deduct resource costs until building the unit), and you could tell a unit to build specific buildings in different locations in a particular order--and you could even drop buildings out of that queue if you needed to rush-build to another building!
